Just purchased a 2004 PT Cruiser GT on Jan 1. It has the 6-CD changer. When listening to the local NPR radio station, they have this annoying scrolling banner, "Home of the Classics and NPR News." Like I didn't know that already. I want to turn that off. I've pressed a combination of buttons and nothing seems to work. It has been suggested to me by two people to just press the PTY button, but that just switched me into PTY mode and eventually reverts back. Any suggestions? Its bad enough that some people have not figured out its bad on web pages. But know I have to deal with it in my car. Arghh!

Another price of progress.
I would be more concerned about brain damage from NPR Indoctrination, but what do I know? In normal installations, the easiest way to eliminate this problem would be to put a switch in the illumination wire in the harness. However, DCX has the illumination tied to the instrument cluster controller circuit fior the odometer and dash lighting. This could cause an error code. Easiest would be to run the parking lights in daytime and turn down the dash lights until the display wasn't visible. |
