I was cruising last night, and my sub suddenly went out. I went and popped the hatch, and the amp power light was off. I checked the fuse on the amp, and it wasn't blown. All the connections seemed tight. I went under the hood and check the power-line fuse (not sure what its formal name is), and it seemed to be tightened down. I did not check to see if it was blown. What do ya'll think is the problem? Any suggestions of where I should check. I wasn't pushing the amp or sub hard at all. Maybe a 1/3 of the way up on both. Could the amp have blown? The sub is an audiobahn 10", and the amp is SPL.

amp could've blown but check to see if you have power going to the remote turn on on the amp. Where does your remote power come from? aftermarket deck, power outlet, fuse panel? i have only had one amp go out on me, bought it used and it was old. The first amp that i bought new back in '97 came with a box(2-12")for $250. ran it hard in four different vehicles and still works great (Sherwood 100x2) has now been replaced with Alpine 5ch that im happy with.

The amp remote is running to a power outlet that is on the lower end of the center console. I had been messing around in there a few weeks ago putting on my booger bushings. Could that be it? The amp I'm running I bought about a year ago, and it was brand new. Haven't pushed it really hard, but it has been used a good bit.

yeah probably. thats where i got my power from before i switched to an aftermarket deck. if you have a multimeter or test light you can check for power. you can also check to see if the amp is working by jumping power from the big 12v screw to the remote screw on the amp with a small wire.

Had one of my electronic guru friends take a look at it. He used what looked to be a multimeter. He checked the power coming into the amp, the fuse, the ground, the remote, everything had power, so we checked under the hood. Everything under the hood had power too. Turns out that it was the power cable somehow getting crimped by the rear seat. Messed with the power cable some, and the seat, and it's working now. Thanks RallyD for your input and help.

I replied to your other post too. Sorry if you already fixed it, I wanted to imput some help if I could.
Amps last a long time like anything as long as you take care of them. If you were to push an amp on full all the time eventually it will wear on it.
