Default Mine is a TRUE 5-STAR Dealership!

What do you think of a DC dealership that would pay for (under warranty)to have both front doors “dynamated” at a professional audio/video store in order to eliminate an on-going "rattle problem” when playing a CD (not hard-rock or rap—just an ordinary CD) in your 6-Disc Changer? Well, that’s exactly what my dealership did to the tune of $195.84! Who says there are no outstanding dealerships out there? Just ask me as, Eastside Chrysler-Jeep, Bellevue, WA, really rocks in my book [?]—it’s truly a 5–STAR DEALERSHIP!!! In fact, [u]I'll give my dealership six stars</u>!!! [^]
Also, I figured I might as well upgrade my stock speakers (saving some money on labor) inasmuch as both the front door panels were removed in order to install the dynamat. Taking a close look at the stock speakers that came with the 6-Disc Changer on my PT Cruiser I found their build-quality to be poor: paper cones, plastic housing, very light-weight magnets, and made in Mexico (no surprise)--not the best materials to give you “great sound”.

I upgraded to a set of separates with a cross-over (MB Quart 6 ½-inch Reference Speakers/RCE 216) and eventually will add an Alpine 65-watt 4-channel Amplifier in order to get maximum performance from the new speakers. BTW, the stock tweeters were not removed as the installer recommended the MB Quart tweeters be located in the doors which would help to “mellow out” the sound (I don't care for bright-sounding speakers) so I have 4 tweeters. [8D] My Cruiser now has an 8-speaker stereo system. The clarity and detail of the sound (especially vocals) has been noticeably enhanced with the speaker upgrade plus the dynamating of both front doors has improved the bass response and eliminated all rattles. Once the AMP is installed things should really ROCK! [8]

I think the dealership is actually very wise - for $200 they have you as a loyal customer, plus you're giving them free advertising.
I just wish there were more like them.

Sounds like they went beyond normal expectations in solving your problem.

I have been a very loyal customer for quite awhile now--ever since the "mysterious" engine noise in my 03GT was resolved to my complete satisfaction: http://www.ptcruiserlinks.com/forum/...eng ine, noise

And if they had the tsb out then they could have fixed it right the first time...you were in that period when Chrylser really did not know what to do with the noise...but in the end it worked out good for you...

You say your speakers being made in Mexico is a bad thing as though your whole PT wasn't made in Mexico.

I expected the speakers to be made in Mexico as was the car. However, I was disappointed with the build-quality and parts used when considering the 6-disc changer is the top-of-the line audio system offered on the PT Cruiser. Both of the PT Cruisers I have owned have had rattles in the side-door speakers. [B)]
