Ok, Legion. I put the same Pioneer's in my PT because of your recommendation and by a friend of mine's. Install was pretty straight forward. The front door panels require some brute force. I felt like I was gonna break something getting those tabs to pop. The screws in the armrest can be taken out with the right size flathead screwdriver. And boy were you right about that one screw in the back. We were able to work it out with a screwdriver and some pliers, but when we put the new ones in, we just didn't put that screw in. I think it should be fine. If it starts to rattle, I'll fix it later. They have great crisp clear sound, but still not enough bass. Its good, but comparing it to my brother's Stratus coupe with the Infinity upgrade, definately shows the need for something else. I wish there was some kind of harness or something to use to keep from having to splice the wires though. Oh well. If anyone else is thinking about doing this, it is definately worth doing it yourself and saving some money.

I have to agree with Red PT about the MB Quart. They are the best ones to put in, but just behind that is what I went with, the Infinity Kappa series. I have an '03 base model, and in the rear I installed the 572.5 cf (5x7) speakers. It is very true what they say about the fourth screw. I also dynamatted the rear quarter panels, so I just too off both rear quarter panel panels, and then you do not have to worry about the darn screw. The sound is awesome, and I am running a Rockford Fosgate Punch 4 channel amp to drive the mids and highs. I won't get to see how it all ties in with my 2 12's and custom box and Fosgate 1000 bd amp until Sunday. Car is in the shop getting some minor interior mods done, but it should sound awesome. I am also thinking of replacing my Audiobahn subs with the Fosgate P3....will keep you updated...Also, with the rear speaker I put in, I had to hammer down the sheet metal just a bit to get them to fit. The magnet it pretty big and they are deeper than the stock speakers. I also had to trim the plastice casing around the speaker itself, was just a bit too wide. Very easy install and should take no longer than about 45 minutes.

sears sells a cheap and easy offset screwdriver that just fits into the cavity - you will have to start the screw in by hand and finish with the screwdriver. BTW - the lack of bass is what inspired me to track down a Kenwood Woox subwoofer. if anything it gives you an excuse to get a nice subwoofer

speaking of which do you have the stock headunit or an aftermarket? an aftermarket one will really make a big difference in sound!

I do have an aftermarket head unit, otherwise, I wouldn't have put in new speakers. Anybody have any experience with bazooka tubes or the like? The installation is just so much easier and it will be cheaper. I'm not looking for bass that will shake my car and make panels fall off, just something decent.

Has anybody upgraded there speakers and keeped the OEM head unit? I have the 6 disc with the Sirus and like it. I just want to upgrade the speakers and leave it at that. From what I read some of you when you change your speakers don`t like the bass you get. Also what happens to the tweeters in the dash?

coopj40, I did that at first with MB Quart. And was let down by the sound.(And I know MB Quart sound Freaking Great!) The factory 6 disk cd changer is tuned for the factory speakers and won't do a thing for those new speakers. You can't make the adjustments with it like you can with an after market head unit. (one with an EQ) Trust me. If you spend the $ on new speakers change out the head unit that can complement those new speakers. When I got the new head unit it was like night and day. What a differnce! Read my thread: (new system finally installed)

If you go to Best Buy you can see and listen to all the speakers in the store. PLUS they will tell you which ones fit and which won't. Now here is the bonus, THEY INSTALL FOR FREE!!!!!!!!!!!! that's my kind of deal.

TurbomanGT:

Well, here is my deal. Buy them on ebay for a whole lot less. I got both sets of my speakers shipped for $131.00 when they retail for $99 a set (so $198 plus tax). And I installed them for free. I saved at least $70. And BB doesn't always install for free. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't.
