Could anyone out there help me out with this. I have been trying to find a good alternative to the factory speakers in my GT (minus the 3.5's in the dash). I am mainly concerned with the door speakers, I want something that is going to fit near perfectly. I have sized up a pair of Infinity's and kenwood's but neither fit right. I need these speakers to sound better than the stock ones (which I think sound pretty damn good), The Kenwoods sucked!!!! Thanks!!

I haven't had any luck with the door speakers. I never could find any that fit. The rear Speakers, I use Sony Xplod 6x9's and they work great....

I'm in the same boat you are. I've been looking around a lot recently. From what I gather, you should go with 6.5s in the front and 5x7 in the back. For the 6.5s I've almost decided to go with some Pioneer 4 way speakers (I have a friend who has them and loves them). From what I hear, they come with oversized brackets so they fit right. The rear speakers, yeah I haven't decided yet. I was thinking about some Kenwoods, but since you said they aren't that great, then well guess not. I saw some Kickers that I liked, but haven't found a good price on them yet. Any tips on getting the door panels and pillar panels off?

i've got the pioneer 4 ways in the front (Pioneer TS-A1780R
6-3/4) and rear (Pioneer TS-A6880R). they sound freaking awesome. i also installed foam baffles behind all of mine. BTW go to www.crutchfield.com if you need the adapters for the speakers. few tips for you: the rear pillars just pop off. all you have to do is work your hand behind them and gently pop the tabs. the doors are held in place with several screws. AND i think they also have to torx 30 screws under the arm rest. (its been over 6 months since i did mine). you will need a panel tool to pop the snaps in the front door too. you might want to spend the $17.00 on a subscription to http://ptdoityourself.net. they have some exellent do it yourself articles on altering, and moding your pt complete with pics. Rear speakers: pretty straightforward. BUT get yourself an offset screwdriver!! i wish i had one for mine. the bottom screw on the speaker is hidden behind a trimpanel. and its a PITA to get to! front speakers: same stuff - straightforward install. BUT BUT BUT: those of us with 2004 cruisers and up have discovered that the cruiser has different harnesses for the front door then in the back. i had to have my front speakers permanently wired in place by a friend who ownes a car audio shop. don't know if this has changed much.

Yeah, I learned that the damned Sonys dont fit in the front, because the brackets arent big enough. I may look into those Pioneers.

I believe Metra, American Terminal, Scosche, and others sell speaker bracket adapters for Chrysler vehicles, in case you do not want to fabricate your own. The brackets will allow you to install your favorite 6 1/2" brand, as long as they aren't too deep.

I've got Infinity 6.5" in the front door panels, and they seem to fit just fine. Circuit City did the install, and didn't charge me any extra for brackets or any sort of misc mounting. There is a HUGE improvement with sound.

The Kenwood 5x7's fit perfectly on the rear pillars, but again, I was not impressed with the sound. Legion makes a good point with the 4th screw on the rear pillars and how hard it is to get to........i just used a crescent wrench and got it out that way.
circuit city wanted 18 bucks for those speaker adapter plates. They also sell speaker wiring harnesses that are inexpensive and save you from cutting the wires.........crutchfield has them too. I'm sticking with factory stuff until I hear otherwise. I might look into the pioneers though. Thanks for the suggestions!

Boston Acoustics makes a drop-in replacement for the DC cars. They are the speaker of choice for the new 300c & Hemi's. They make several models that would work for you.
Cost would be a tad more than the others but its worth it. I am setting up my wifes Saturn w/ there NX series (neo magnet for more clearance) I will proabably either get a set of NX's or go to the Pros (spendy) & add a amp or 2. I can look up the model #'s for ya (I'm a Boston Acoustics factory rep also

I've ordered MB Quart 6.5" PCE 216 for the doors and the 5.25" PCE 213 for the rear pillars, and the JL Audio 300/4 amplifier to push them. These are the Premium line. Will also have PTE 25 matching tweeters put in higher. Will also have the doors Dynamated to cut the vibration. So when it's all done, WOW!! Can't wait. If you can swing the cost of MB Quart for your front doors go for it. It's worth every $. If you shop around the net you can find pretty good prices.
