Default Antenna mounting Sirius w/ RB1 Nav Sys

I am upgrading my RB1 Navigation System with the Sirius installation kits.
I do not want to mount the antenna on the roof. I want to have the antenna installed (by the dealership) internally. My first choice in on the center of the front dash between the air vent and the windshield, second choice in on the cover of the rear wiper. Has anyone installed their antenna's internally? Where did you install yours? Did you experience any problems with reception?

I installed the Sirius system in my 05 convertible. First, you will have to get the TERK SIR-MINI antenna and SIR-SP dual input splitter.
The antenna is very small, about 2" X 2" X 1/2". Mounted it under the dash cover, just right of center, close to the windshield. I used double sided tape to hold it in place, or you could use velcro.
The antenna has a straight "view" thru the windshield. Reception is great and haven't had any problems. Nice clean installtion with no antenna showing.

Thanks for your feedback. I had the system installed this weekend, and opted to have the standard installation done instead of a custom install.
The standard install required by Mopar is a roof mount antenna with the Sirius receiver mounted behind the left rear panel in the storage area. This way I get the full warranty. In a custom installation the receiver would be mounted under the driver's seat (there was no room behind the dash) and the large antenna would have required drilling the dash and mounting it between the defroster vent and the window switches. It would have looked "butt ugly" and not warranted. It works fine, I'm loving satellite radio. I plan to have the antenna painted to color match my Electric Blue PT.

Slight thread jack here: how is the roof mount antenna attached? I would like to take mine off and have it painted body color when I have my new bumpers painted.

The antenna has a 3/4 round post that sticks out the bottom, 2 little spurs stick out the side of the post slightly near the top. After the hole is drilled in the roof, the post is pushed down into the hole and the spurs spring out after they pass through the roof. The bottom (roof meeting) side of the antenna has a rubber gasket seal around it and a glue pad that you uncover before you push the antenna onto the roof.

To remove the antenna you would have to drop the headliner, compress the little spurs on the post, and push it back out. I don't know how permanent the glue pad is, but for me, I wouldn't mess with it!

I had a dealer install one on my 02 silver, and I did the install on my wife's 03 Electric blue. It wasn't hard, but drilling a hole into the top of your PT's roof is scarey.

So, I wanted to paint this anntena to match my PT. It sounds like I better off leaving in on the car, masking the area around the antenna and then painting it. As opposed to removing it, painting it and re-installing it.

I have heard that you can paint your antenna, but you must use non-metallic paint to avoid degrading the reception.
