Custom Make Hidden Sub Enclosure

Has anyone tried making their own hidden sub enclosure for the PT cruiser? I'm thinking about making it fibreglass based. I don't know if it would be difficult, but the space is already there for it with the Mopar enclosure. Has anyone seen it online, or want to offer thoughts or suggestions?

JL Audio makes a 10" Stealthbox for the PT that is made of fiberglass.

let me rephrase it also yes... that would be me.

I was pulling on your leg there. yes I made a fiberglass box for (2) 8" subs. No I do not have pics & it was sold with my 01 le cruiser.
I used masonite & foam board to mock up the box. Then I glassed the inside. After the glass was hard enough, I sanded the edge flat & mounted a custom baffle board that held the 8's. then I glass all the edges & filled any voids with bondo.

I mounted it behind the stock panel (pocket removed). cut the opening a tad larger for clearance. made a grill out of plexiglass covered with foam & stretch knit. fastened that with counter sunk hidden bolts & nuts. After final trim work, it looked damn close to factory or what factory should have looked like.

BTW, I also refabbed the panel mounting bracket & made a cutout for the wiring harness in the back of the enclosure. There is enough space for a 10" if you do not get a woofer thats too deep. The *" subs I used, I had to overlap the lip of the baskets to get them to fit properly.

The JL box is about $400. My box cost me about $60 in materials & a couple weekends... (need time for glass to dry & airout)

mine fit behind the stock panel & had (2) 8" subs in it. I was working with a vendor this week. He will have a new sub I will be working with in around the mid-August time frame.

I am looking at coming up with a powered & non powered sub box optimized for the PT Cruiser for both size & sound quality. My car will be the prototype & I will test it on some of the members of my clubs cars. I will keep you all posted on it as progress begins.

I am looking for an alternative to the JL, Q-Logic & Mopar boxes. I will also work on a version for the convertible. The price hopefully will be no more that the ones out there now. Just better sounding!
