Default Transmission Problems.

I have a 2004, and the transmission is stuck in drive. It has been hard to shift for a while and when I contacted the deraler one of the techs sais it was probably sticky from a coke being dripped onto the shifter. Today something broke loose as it went into Drive. Now I can shift to any position but it stayed in Drive. Had to shut it off, now it cannot be started.. HELP! Does this thing have any shift linkage or is it an electrical transmission??

There's a neutralizer switch that only allows you to start it in Park and Neultral. If you are stuck in Drive then it will not start. There have been problems with the 41 TE auto tranny. Ours died in our '01 at 81k miles.

When I gave my '04 PT lite Turbo to my daughter, she wound up having a tranny problem as well. Luckily it was fixed under warranty. I'm just not sure what the problem was.
