Bandbpt here 2002 t/e with 29,000 miles, I installed k&n air intake system. I have been checking mpg for the last few months at each fill up. On average I'm getting between 27 and 29 mph. I have to say avoid the jack rabbits starts, eventhou it does sound great.Just keep your foot out of the throttle body, drive 55/60. It seems to work for me. I drive a average of 325 miles each week, just to and from work.

My 2008 Update:
maybe was due to the car being new and not broken in yet but my mileage has started to move up from the crappy mileage to the 21 mpg mark (more like 19.7). This is in town (Stop and go) I've also noticed that if you keep the rpm of the engine down below 2.5k and when you feel the car shift to a higher gear, let off of the gas a bit you will see the mileage increase. coast down hill and add more gas just before the bottom of the hill to power up the next hill I'll change the oil soon with some more Dyno oil. After about 4000 miles I'll put in some M-1, Syntec or Wally-World Sythetic (what ever is on sale). I've used these oils in all of my bikes and plan to do the same in the PT as well. I'm not sure if it will increase my mileage but it will reduce the operating temperature by reducing friction. Van |

Thes PT look good but certainly have their share of issues,,MPG always has been one of them!! I rented a Nissan Altima 4cylinder & it got 34MPG at 65mph!! 175 HP without a turbo!& 22K same as a well equiped PT!!! I really believe if Chrysler is to survive as we know it they must get a grip & listen to people & complaints in forums like this!! They have great looking cars but? ![]() |
