Default Stage 1 Plugs & Wire Upgrade

Has anyone here with a 05 turbo lite auto tranny installed the reccomended NGK PLZTR5A-13 double platinium plugs gapped at .035 and P4876511 wires with their stage 1? Just wanted to know if so, how well are they working? Seems like from what I have read in the threads you have installed other plugs and wires. I am going to have them installed this Friday. Just wanted your input. Thanks in advance......Mike

From all that I have heard and read "double platinium" spark plugs (at least Champions) do not work well with turbos, however, they are great for N/A engines. I continue to use Champion Copper Plus plugs gapped to .040 with great success. Magnecor competition ignition cables were also recently installed on my "S1" turbo car and I couldn't be happier with the "total result"--continued awesome performance [8)] and great highway gas mileage.

Thats what worries me. The instructions that come with the Stage 1 upgrade kit say to use the NGK PLZTR5A plugs. When I researched that number it said they were the double platiniums. Why would they specify platiniums when supposedly they don't work well with turbo engines. The LZTR5A plugs are the normal plugs. So I guess I will find out soon. Hope the Chrysler engineers didn't make a typo error......Mike[/quote]

From everything I've heard the turbo engine is too hot for platinum plugs.

I just talked to Tommy Thrift and from all he has read they want the regular copper plugs LZTR5A. There was a typo in the instructions. Glad I found out before they went in. Anyone need PLZTR5A Platinium plugs?

Just had the Stage 1 Upgrade kit, Plugs, wires and BOV installed today. WOW what a blast! Smooth as silk and can Burn rubber from a rolling start with no problems! This is definitely worth the extra cost in premieum gas!!! Now all I need to do is have the rear sway bar installed.

Thank You. It has been in 2 1/2 days now. I like it more and more. I like the sound the BOV makes. The get up and go is fantastic!

It is recommended for max performance that you upgrade your exhaust. Mopar will obviously tell you that optimal performance would be through a MOPAR exhaust, duh lol. Other than that, it is always good to change plugs and wires reguardless of if you have S1 or not. If cash won't allow some nice iridiums at the moment make sure to gap your stock plugs to about .040. Other than that...you'll need premuim fuel and new tires in a couple weeks [8)]
