Yeah, the copper plugs are the ones I'm talking about... BTW, was going to try the Denso irridium plugs, but the length of the plug was different, shoulder different & shorter, etc... Gave it up and going with the copper V-Powers...

The difference with the 05 is not only the plastic manifold, but the PCM is programmed to take advantage of it. A 05 PCM cannot be adapted to an earlier car because the programming is different because of different sensors (yes, they may look the same but are not).

Like I said in the other thread, a NGK CS rep told a friend one thing, another told him something else. Both AGP and Psi-Fi recommend the NGK's at .028 gap. They have done must research and testing, whereas NGK made their plugs and gapped them to what they thought was ideal. Listen to NGK if you want to, but don't get upset with others because they are getting a smoother idle and more power by using a lower gap. This has been proven already.

Tom, I understand how you feel. Believe it or not, the stock plugs gapped at .040 always worked well for me as well. But Psi-Fi has dynoed with the NGK's at .028, and that's why they recommend that gap if you up the boost or get a PowerPaq. It's like this; Junior's stock plugs came with a .050 gap. You recommended that I lower the gap to .040 and I did. Where you right? HELL YEAH!!! You couldn't be more right! The power was felt right away. It's kinda the same with the NGK's; the stock gap is not the worst nor the best, just adequate.

I highly doubt S1 for '05 will work on an 03'. I have the early 05 w/ alum intake and my S1 instruction sheet says 235Hp @ 4900 and 275lbs TQ @ 2800RPM. So the difference is in the programming. The plastic manifold will make a difference once you start upping the mods and boost, but I'm not convinced that it would make a lot more power on say an 03 w/S1 and cat-back system. Az, you've got a lot more than that, so I think the manifold will help in the overall power production. Besides, if you go PPQ, the S1 programming is all but irrelavent when it comes to AFR's. Wether or not it is 03 or 05 S1, the programming is altered for even more power!

Yeah, i know, just wanted so see if i could raise my base numbers a bit, before all the other mods. but if the extra 15lbs of tq are purely because of the manifold, then i am good to go,cause i just put it in.
Are you saying you put an 05' SI in an 03'?

03 stock injectors are lower output. In 04 stock GT injectors were the same output as the 03 upgrade injectors. In addition, PCM changes from 04-, like noted above, would make retrofitting an 05 PCM in an 03 unworkable. Better to find someone with an 03 PCM and injectors that they are not using.

The difference is 8hp for non late 05's, 10hp for late 05's using the plastic mani. The tunning on the late 05 adds the extra 2 hp.

I got this directly form an engineer who worked on the upgrades to the new GT motor. His thoughts were "do you really think you will noice 2hp gain" He said swap to the plastic mani, it's a cheap & easy way to improve your car.

I did & he was right... but I still want to squeeze out that extra 2hp...[8)]
