Default Stage 1 Installed but starts hard

Got the stage 1 installed a week or so ago using the NGK lztr5a V-Power plugs, Now when I start it first thing in the morning. It has to turn over 5 or 6 times before it starts. After that during the day I have no problems and it seems to run great. I told the mechanic to gap the plugs at .035 per instructions. Now I am wondering if he did or left them at the gap they came as. Any help or suggesttions would be appreciated. Thanks

make sure the plugs are still in good condition if they are used. Plus if they are gapped at .035 then you probably need new wires if they are the stock ones. How many miles are on the car?

The plugs are new and the wires are mopar high performance and they are new also. The instructions for the 2005 stage 1 upgrade specified that I make the change. All my mechanical ability was in my left middle finger. To bad It was cut off 25 years ago(I don't have any). Otherwise I would remove the plugs to see if they gapped them right.

just tell them your car started acting up when you had the install done. It should be a free inspection i would think.

"Won't start the first time." Gee, where have I heard that before? My '03 GT (without and with S1) did that, off and on, for the 2 1/2 years I owned it. It's not uncommon. Had the dealer look at it and they found nothing. Let it crank twice, turn it off and it will start the 2nd time. I got used to it.

That is really strange cause mine has always started up first time. A few times I turned off the ignition too early and had to restart only cause I was not paying attention and so use to it starting up before I know it!! You figure I have over 43000 miles on mine.

The plugs you got are NOT the ones Mopar is reccommending. They actually say "PLZ...", those are the premium lazer platinum plugs. I know, I know, everyones says plat plugs aren't good for our turbos, but they are wrong. ptcruise just had this dicussion and someone posted info on temp factors (the main reason plat plugs are poo-pooed) and they are well within the standars for our cars! I suggest iridiums. And your gap may not right be proper either.

Topless - When I called the Mopar tech line about the plugs, they said the stock nbr was 4306 which matched the pro - V plugs LZ. When I mentioned the PLZ platiniums he said that must have been a typo. @#@#@# who the heck is right? I talked with TThrift and he said to use the LZ's. Guess I'll live with what I have for now. Only starts hard on first start in the morning. The rest of the time its starts right up. Thanks people for all the advice. I appreciate it.
