Default Yet more Stage 1 Questions

Hello,
Ive been reading the posts for a couple of days now and i was wondering if i could possibly get some questions answered.
Ive had my PT GT 03' since it first came out, but have put very little miles on it, only about 44,000 KMS. With the stage 1, if chrysler installs it, do they usually do the tranny learn? (mine is an autostick) Also, is it much more labour intensive with the extra part as mine is a 2003. Also has anyone else here on the forums ordered from Tommy, into Canada? I was wondering what he charged to get it shipped up to me, cause my chrysler dealers here want to charge $665 for the kit alone, which Tommy charges $350 US for, so even with exchange its about 200 bucks less. Is it necessary to get higher performance plugs and wires for this? ive read some have had problems with it turning over? I just want all my fears to rest, so i can buy this and get out and enjoy it over the summer!! Any help you guys have is greatly appreciated.
Mike

The dealership SHOULD be able to do the tranny learn for you via plugging it into the computer. If your dealer wants to charge an arm and a leg for it then I say do it yourself. I took me less than an hour to install the S1 and do the quick learn. The only difference between yours and mine is I've got the 04 so I didn't need the injectors, and you will need to have the injectors installed. As far as plugs and wires go, you don't necesarrily NEED them, but to get "optimum performance" out of your PT it's a good thing to do. Pick up some MSD wires from modernperformance.com, I think they're like 44 bucks plus shipping. As for plugs, most guys can get away with regapping the stock plugs to .040-.038 instead of the .052 they come as. Other than that, a nice intake and exhaust package to go with all that and your cruiser will be flyin with the rest of us

I know Tommy has shipped to Canada before. I think it works better if you no use UPS or Fedex. As for the install of Stage 1, if you are at all handy with a wrench, it can easily be done at home. It's scary ripping the manifold and fuel rail out, but it's a fairly striaghtforward procedure. PM me, if you like, and I'll send you a link to a full write up on the install, with pic's, that resides on another forum. After that, I would suggest new plugs and wires. Go with either NGK V-Power plugs, or, you could spring for the Iridiums. Either way, drop the gap to about .040 and add a set of good wires (Magnecore, FireWires, MSD, etc...). While you are under the hood, make sure you have all the silencers removed from your stock airbox, and add a K&N Dropin and an AMX pipe. Then a nice exhaust and you will be flying...

Very important here:

Whether the dealer installs it or you do, DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES SKIP THE QUICK LEARN or you will kill your tranny. The dealer can do it quickly via electronic means, but you can do it yourself after installing the parts. The instructions for this come with Stage 1 and are pretty straightforward.

Since you have to put in the larger injectors, I would pop for the new plastic turbo manifold also. You are going to have to take out 50% of it anyway, and it is the cheapest 8HP on the block. Tommy can help you out with that also. It is real easy to do the manifold and the injectors at the same time. Stage 1 PCM, injectors, manifold , plugs and wires shouldn't take you more than 2-3 hours and it's really basic "remove and replace" kind of stuff.
