Default Smoking Tires are amusing

So, the tires will now smoke if I push it in a turn... Time to bust out the camcorder.

Try the spring mod and see how long you can keep the wheels screeching.

I'm thinking tires and suspension...

I also have a plastic intake manifold sitting in my closet.

Yeah, tires and suspenssion is the way to go. Coilovers, Z rated tires, Strut Bar and Sway Bars, Bushings, do that and your PT will handle like a dream. Some people have gone with replacing springs and shocks and that's fine too.

Solution Found:

Goodyear Assurance TripleTread 225/50R16.... H rated, quiet and grippy. And all season! I caught them on sale for 640 incl. tax and road hazard. (And there's still a $40 rebate!)

The spinning is no more, but there's still a little chirp.
These are wider than the stock tire by ~.8 inches. They don't rub, but I don't have enough miles to comment on any change in cornering/turning yet.

Excellent choice! [|)]

Before I went to coilovers and 18/8 wheels, I had replaced my stock Goodyear LS rubber with the TripleTreds - put just under 20k on them before swapping to 225/40/18 rubber & they showed almost no wear, handled superbly, were still quiet, etc.

If they were available in 225/40/18, I'd have bought a new set in a heartbeat. May be the best tire Goodyear has ever produced...
