I read on another forum that if you have your car serviced and they did something to your computer they could erase S1? that means you could be drivng around without it and not even know it? what precautions should be taken when servicing car, and how do you know it you still have it? Gary

With my dealer saying doesn't mean a thing. I would cover it up, put signs on it and anything else I could think of. Most of the mechanics just see what job they have to do and won't continue to read the rest of the job write up, well, at least my local dealer operates that way.

Actually I've got two good dealers. A Chrysler dealer that did the work on my modified '03 GT and a Dodge dealer who works on my modified '05 srt-4.
Some people have made little metal covers that go over the OBII port and are locked in place with a suitcase lock. Impossible to get to the port. [?]
