My question concerns the PCM: is this a new module that can be swaped for the old by the "un-plug/re-plug" technique, or do we have to remove and replace chips?
The Injectors and gaskets are a slam dunk though.

How much do you think the cost might be for dealer installation so everything would be covered under warranty?

...I think the new gasket is for re-installing the upper manifold when it is removed and replaced in order to install the new injectors...

If the Intake Manifold gasket is thinner than the stock one, then the compression may be raised; making up some potential HP at the same RPM and boost. If it is thicker, than the compression may be dropped further to allow higher boost levels to be obtained (for some reason, yet to be explained).
I have an issue with this statement, Dalite. The gasket between the upper & lower intake manifolds would have no effect on compression that I can see. It would only make the distance for the air charge to travel a minute amount more or less. I have not looked under the hood since reading about all this, but could the reason for the gasket replacement be due to the necessity to remove the upper intake to replace the injectors? I'm just guessing here, since I have never done anything like that. Maybe it's just a stonger, more durable gasket, or, maybe it has some heat insulating properties to enhance performance. Again, just guessing.

I think you guys might get more power out of yours being that your stock boost level is only 5psi where as ours is 11psi. So if they raise your boost up past 11psi as im guessing it will do on the srt, then you will yeild more HP.

I think both of you are correct about the intake gasket. I was thinking old tricks with base gasket thickness, and not thinking it through. I haven't ever had to go into anything that used injectors before, so my lack of experience shows here; loudly.

Is the injector replacement something that the average weekend wrencher would want to undertake? I wonder what the labor tab would be at the dealership. I haven't owned a torque wrench for the past 15+ years.

Kirby,

The PCM should be replaced as a unit, from my understanding. After removing Negative battery cable it would be a matter of clearing a path (clutch slave cylinder and/or other items mounted to the PCM bracket) unplugging 3 or 4 connectors (3 for the Manual trans, 4 for the auto trans), unbolting the PCM bracket, unbolting the PCM from the bracket, mounting the new pcm to the bracket, and mounting the bracket to the firewall. Then replace standard obstacles, reconnect negative cable and back in business.

I think some of the "chip" manufacturers install internal "piggyback" circuit boards that parallel additional processing to the original ROM, EPROM or EEPROM in the PCU, but I don't think that Mopar is counting on this being done at the customer or dealer level.

The only thing that would affect compression ratio would be the thickness of the head gasket.

"Is the injector replacement something that the average weekend wrencher would want to undertake?"

I havent done it on this car, but it should be pretty straight forward. Relieve fuel pressure, disconnect the injectors from the wiring harness, unbolt the fuel rail from its mounting points, remove injectors, put the new ones in, and put everything back in its place. I dont think there is anything you would need a torque wrench for. Probably wouldnt take more than 20 min. Your mileage may vary.
Of course, the tab at a dealership would be highly overpriced.
