My DC dealer got the turbo upgrade in yesterday and after looking it over and talking to his Service Manager there were lots of questions. He told me to wait until things are "clarified" by DC and MOPAR--he will not be installing any of these new turbo upgrades until he is fully satisfied that everything is covered under warranty so his customers are protected.

My dealer indicated that on the box the turbo upgrade came in there was a notice stating something like...not to be installed on vehicles in states that have emission control regulations... Aren't all states governed by federal emission control laws? Also, he questioned why the VIN number was required when ordering this upgrade for a customer--could it be that it was because it may void the warranty on the emissions system on the car? Who really knows at this point??? [:I] [:I] [:I]

Not sure if its posted before but its up on the Mopar website with graph and discriptions. I was told by my service mngr. that in Canada at least it should be under full warr. if "they" install it, but I'll check into this before buying. 2nd option is do what my friend did with his Buick GN. Carry the stock MCU in case something went wrong. Mind you a bit different system now from '86-87.

Don

"Not legal for sale or use on pollution controlled motor vehicles." So, what's really the bottom line here? Aren't most all of the GTs sold in this country "pollution controlled"?

Having a performance wing is a little like petting a porkupine; stroking your fans (upgrade purchasers)the wrong way can have unforseen detrimental effects.

There are already many ways to upgrade the boost on the turbo(look at the threads on boost controllers on this site). The real lure of genuine Mopar parts is that someone has actually tested these things in context and have at least been able to give them the thumbs up on reliability and effectiveness. If in fact the warranty is void with the use of this product, isn't it cheaper to buy the $45 boost control and put it on yourself?

By entering into this performance game you toy with peoples dreams and expectations, when injured you make Toyota buyers out of them. I understand full well that there is a core group of REAL enthusiasts in the PVO department, and it becomes painfully clear why it is so difficult to build a true performance vehicle (NO ONE in a suit will stand behind the product).

Please get this warranty issue cleared up as soon as possible I am rooting for that core group of REAL Chrysler/MOPAR folks!!

If you look on the web site for the Stage 1 upgrade, at the bottom is a link to the warranty information. It states in the first paragraph that "Mopar Performance Parts are sold 'as is', without any warranty whatsoever."

I understand this to say that we take the risk.
