stage 1 exchange

hello everyone. Went to the dealership and asked them what the price was on a stage 1 kit for my 03 cruiser. The parts guy said 1000.00 bucks but that there was a 500 dollar core exchange. so 500 bucks after i give them my pcm and injectors. Does that sound right? did any of you guys have to turn in your pcm? I would like to keep mine just in case i ever have to go back to the dealer i could switch them out so they cant blame the cause on the kit. thanks in advance guys.

That is BS. Turning in your Stage 0 pcm and injectors is not true. My dealer installed Stage 1 in my '03 GT and I got everything back, the Stage 0 pcm and stock injectors. I wouldn't buy it from the dealer anyways. I installed both S1 and S2 on my '05 Neon SRT-4 and I never paid a core charge and I kept all of the parts removed. I purchased the S1 and S2 from Haynes Speed Shop.

Sorry for the pun but the dealer is taking you for a ride. I've read most of the stage 1 posts and most seem to go to Haynes speed shop for theirs. It's around $460.

I would add that a few think it is a relatively easy DIY project. Might want to search around as there are posts about DIY or re-post seeking some guidance.

hey i bought a stage one through custom cruzers a month ago still not in but I phoned him the other day to see what the delay was and he told me i would have to give him the old pcm in exchange whats with that ? already paid the guy............anyone else heard of this ?

You don't have to give him the stock pcm. I've bought Stage 1 for my GT and Stage 1 and Stage 2 for my SRT-4 and never had to give up the stock pcm. How did you pay them? By credit card I hope. If by CC then dispute the charge, get your money back and buy it from Haynes Speed Shop.

hey thanks for your quick response ........ i called the guy on it, saying if i dont get my old pcm back iwant my money back and i would purchase it from someone else ........... he then said oh oh oh ya right i made a mstake , i dont need your old pcm and injectors .lol thanks mean green
