Default Engine Mod Disappointment

Greetings,
I've been reading up on the s1 package since joining the forum and am a little upset with it. I don't know what others are driving but according to Chrysler and Edmunds websites, my 07 GT makes 230hp. According to the Mopar site, the s1 upgrade will help the turbo put out 235hp. Not worth the investment for 5 horses. I have also discovered that a "cold air intake" is not necessarily a "cold air intake" due to the engine compartment. I guess my options for getting better performance are limited to: 1) a new 2.5" cat back exhaust, 2) a new down pipe from the turbo to engine, 3) the "air box mod" which I can't find here with a K&N drop in filter, and 4) someone on this forum mentioned a member makes a new pipe from the air box to the turbo, I can't find who.

Other than lowering, there's not a lot performance wise. I know I shouldn't be complaining about the stock hp but it's not about that. It's about being able to have the choices to make upgrades. Anyone have any other suggestions or help with the choices above? Thanks in advance.

Spencer

See my post on the other thread you started...Stage 1 for the 07 should be 240, but don't let the peak number fool ya. There is a lot more oomph everywhere else in the rev range...

You may also want to head over to PTCrew.com - Learn it or Burn it. and do a search for xcal2.
That may be a good alternative to stage 1.

What kind of power do you want. The GT with 230HP has plenty "Git-Up-And-Went". Maybe the PT was not a good option if you are looking for "break-neck" speed.

There is more to it than a 10 hp increase. As for not a lot performancewise over on PT Crew people are making anywhere from stock whp all the way up to 600+ whp.

Stage 1 boosts torque, too, doesn't it?
As for cold air intake -
K&N Apollo Cold Air Intake Systems: KNN-RC-5052AB - summitracing.com
Route the hose to the wheel well hole or to lower grille area.

The airbox mod needs updating for '06s and later.

Agree that PTCrew will better suit your performance urge.

You mention lowering - don't overlook sway bars and a strut bar, though I have to say the biggest improvement in handling - more than rear sway bar, lowering and strut bar combined was getting rid of the good-for-a-year tires.
(I got Michelin hydroedge, I have 16" wheels).
