Default Gas octane

With gas over $4.20 in Maryland for Super I was thinking of putting in Plus instead of Super? Has anyone else tried this that has a S1?

Also, what kind of mileage do you get on a full tank?

I would not do it with S1. What would you be saving? A big $1-$1.50 a tankful? Big whoop.

Yeah, makes sense.

Do you know how many miles you usually get to a tank? I am just wondering if I am in line with what other HO Turbo S1 modified crusiers cars are getting?

Thanks!

I don't have my 5 speed '03 GT anymore, but it was modified to around 280 hp and 300+ tq and I got 22-24 mpg in combo city/freeway and 30+ mpg if I totally stayed out of boost.

I agree with Mean Green on this one with savings of $1 -1.50.....big whoop. Besides the savings you think you are getting, I have found that that my cruiser gets better mileage using premium over the cheap stuff. Plus your fuel system stays cleaner and your valves, your pistons and so on using premium.

With my Stage 1, plus other mods with an Autostick, I get 350 miles to a tank before I fill up, and It is usually around 12 to 13 gallons, my Aeroforce scan gauge reports 26 to 28 mpg, but my driving is 90% on the highway at 65 to 75 mph.

I was also got caught not long ago in a rural area that had no premium, so I filled up with 87% regular, should have put just enough to get elsewhere, the next day I refilled with premium (about 10 gallons) but it was hard to crank and would not get over 2500 rpm. Changed back to stock computer and still same problem. Got the dealership to check it and it comes up as bad cam sensor. Not saying the regular was the cause but it was to close in time to not to think it may have, or it may have just been the sensors time to die.

Got my car out of the shop today and it seems the cam sensor just had a short. That fixed the problem so far. Think I'll ride the stock box so I can run regular for a while and try to save enough to pay the bill.
