I Think we should rename "Stage 1" to:
PT Powertrain Revision 1.0 With the BOV: Powertrain revision 1.1 1. It is more than just a 20HP Bump with all the things that the PCM controls. 2. Better fuel curves ( No Burping Between Shifts) 3. Positive shift points. 4. No more strange fluttering noises from the turbo with the BOV upgrade. 5. higher redline. 6. Lots of torque. 7. Better downshifts. You don't feel the engine spooling up and then down-shifting. 8. You don't have to detune it for normal street driving (the time you did at the track is what you have for the street) 9. The car fells more like a Grand Touring (GT) car. 10. You can beat almost all ricer cars you find in the street with a "Wagon"!!!! Just some more $0.02 Ian

IAN:
You beat me to it. The peak HP in stock form was probably available 5% of the time at WOT (wide open throttle). Now it's 99% of the time. You feel the potential in a stock GT for about 1 second in low gear after the slow spool-up, then it drops like a rock at the 1-2 shift. In second gear it finally gets with the program until the 2-3 shift and falls on it's nose again. I said from the get-go this car has potential if they hadn't put a "governor" on the car. The stage one removes the governor and gives you another 20 hp for grins. |

I was at meet/greet on Sunday and two guys were talking and one kept saying he could not justify $400 for just 20 hp. He said he could just add dual exhaust & K&N filter for the same amount. I guess he did not think about the added perks of the above mentioned fixes[8]

It appears you are in the MD area, any chance in getting a ride in you PT to experience the stage one? I too have thought $400 is alot for 20hp, but if all the issues stated were corrected,,,,,,,,, Has anyone heard a guess on the stage 2 price? Tom |

To OurPTGT:you say 20 hp. with exhaust and a KN. I installed a Borla dual exhaust 2 1/2 inch. It looks like a 100hp.,but the car ran the exact same 1/4 mile time and cost more then my stage 1,k&n on some cars only does 1 hp.,I saw this in Hotrod mag. on a Mustang.....OLDHEAD

BEWARE WHAT YOU WISH FOR, THE STAGE I IS AN AMAZING IMPROVEMENT IN TERMS OF PERFORMANCE BUT SINCE I INTALLED MINE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN ON WITH A P0141 CODE (HEAT SENSOR) AND NOBODY KNOWS WHAT TO DO, NOT EVEN THE DEALER. AND SINCE THEY ARE SOLD "AS IS" THERE IS NO CHANCE I WILL GET IT WARRANTED. SO CROSS YOUR FINGERS YOU'LL GET A BUG FREE PCM.

If the stock fuel mixture is rich.... has anyone tried running with the new PCM and leaving the stock injectors in place?
