I don't think anyone wants to try a "bubble gum and bailing wire" adjustment like that. A blown engine runs rich to protect it from detonation. Just using the wrong injectors would throw a wild card into the mix that would provide unknown results and possibly a lean scenario that could be deadly to your engine.

Probably not the safest thing to do... but I ran the Stage1 PCM upgrade alone for two days and then did the injector upgrade tonight. The PCM alone does surge at higher revs so I didn't do much heavy acceleration. There was a significant performance improvement when I added the injectors. So.. do it all or nothing. It's definitely a bargain upgrade compared to any of the modifications I've played with on other vehicles.

My dealer told me it would cost me $200 for install. I get 10% off the Stage I because of our PT club. Total should be $560. Going to do it first week of September.

I think some of you are over looking something. Most aftermarket upgrades HP gains are short lived, (like putting in a K&N ) and the full amount of the gain is lessend by the computor as it learns and resets to factory settings. With the stage one the 20 HP gain is a solid, "stick with you gain", for a not so large amount of $$$...

I would agree with PT-Dave. I had my install done last week and the dealership charged me $150.00 Canadian. That's about $100.00 U.S.

The Stage I is the best thing that ever happended to the PT GT (at least until Stage II). I'm a Sales Manager at a Mexico City dealership, and I have to remind you that we're in business, yes it seems like you're paying too much, but we have to make a profit in order to give you the Five Star service and support you guys expect and deserve. I've seen first hand the kind of support a dealer gives you when they installed the kit, if you do it on your own and something goes wrong, then you're on your own. The smart thing to do is talk to the Service Manager and explain to him you know how fast and easy the install is, but you just want to have installed at the dealership for peace of mind, he'll probably knock a couple of hours off the labor. At least that's what we would do over here.
