Ok, so tonight I put in the new air intake in preparation for the S1 upgrade. (ended up getting a 100,000 BTU propane heater for my garage )

I *think* I did everything right, but I had a hell of a time getting it in there... I went with the K&N FIPK... When I accelerate it makes kind of like a hollow sucking sound then when I let off the gas I get a "psssh". Thats how it should be, right?

Got the battery swapped out too. Plugs and wires will be later this weekend. Waiting for the S1 to arrive...

Tommy has been providing parts for several years over at the PT Crew website. He is at a new dealership now. Always good service and prices. He know what he is talking about. If you want to upgrade from your aluminum manifold you need someone that knows all of the miscellaneous parts that you need. He is da' man.

Do you not need to have the VIN inscribed in the new PCM? I thought there was something that a dealer - (or flight systems) - must do when performing a stage 1 upgrade.

Do you not need to use a code scanner to tell the PCM about the tranny learn?

You need to provide VIN # and mileage.

Bob:

Correct. They program it for you before it arrives. Which also means it takes FOREVER for it to show up. I am still waiting for mine, which was ordered on 2/14/09.

On the plus side, the rest of my parts came in, and that gave me a chance to get everything installed so when the S1 arrives, I should be all set.

As far as the tranny learn, if you have a manual you are all set after dropping in the S1. For auto, you can either have a dealer program it with their scanner, or you can go through a prescribed series of maneuvers to complete the learn without a scanner.

Well my S1 kit *finally* shipped. I ordered it on 2/14, and it just shipped yesterday 4/1.

The place I bought it from said that for a while Flight Systems wasn't sending anything out, then all of a sudden a bunch that were on order for a while started showing up. Wonder if it has to do with Chrysler imploding at the moment...

Should show up soon, then we will see how the install and quick learn goes...

Got the S1 installed and ran through the quick-learn.
Wow, what a difference! MUCH faster than it was before...

Plugs are still gapped at .040 but next time I change them I will go down to .035 per the instructions that came with the S1 kit. It is running strong, so I dont think I will have much of a problem in the interim.

Broke 1 of the red clips on the connectors that go into the PCM, but I used some cable ties to fasten that connector and its wire to the one next to it -- so hopefully it wont pull out due to vibration.

Notice a sound that sounds like lifter tick now, but that could be a bunch of things according to the guys over at ptcrew. Also hear some flutter when letting off the gas as low rpms, but also read that is normal.

I think next I am going to run some custom gauges, and make some modifications to improve handling (hood strut, etc.) was also looking at going to the composite intake manifold and bigger exhaust for even more power, but I think that might be more trouble than what I would get out of it as a return. For a bolt on, the S1 is a huge return on the amount of work invested. It amazes me since the 04 already came with the proper injectors, that Chrysler didnt just program the PCMs like the S1 is set up right from the get-go. Could have probably sold more in the turbo configuration that way...

Yes the conectors on the Computer unit are a bitch. But going from Lite to S1 must really be a kick. Good for you. And now you will really need a tower brace to keep the car from pulling to the right when you stomp on it. WoW
