Default Stage 1 Debate...

Ive been thinking of getting a stage 1 upgrade, but I was just curious. How hard is the install ?

Which gaskets does it come with ? Im thinking i might have a valve cover gasket leak, i changed plugs not too long ago, and there was oil around the plugs. If its not leaking at the valve cover, Im not sure where it could be coming from.

Stage 1 install is easy. Just switch pcms. If a 5 speed that's it. If automatic you have to do a series of runs for the tranny to learn the new shift points. Easy to do in an area that will allow you to do some sprints.

Inside the valve cover at the plug wells are rubber O ring gaskets for each plug well. If careful you should be able to reuse the intake manifold gasket. When reinstalling the valve cover gasket there are certain places you need to use RTV high temp sealer on the head. If you can turn a wrench you should be able to do this or get an experienced friend to help you. If you have a dealer do this they will rape you.

I have the autostick. Doesnt it come with a PCM, injectors, and intake gasket ?

So you think my O-rings need replacing then ? Is this a common problem ?

Only the '03 GT needed bigger injectors. '04 on up already have them. PCM only.

The O rings are a common problem.

My 2005 has 32k miles and one of the wells is just starting to leak. Don't know how common but it seems that more than a few people have complained about this problem. Besides that at 32k miles there should not be this kind of problem. The car is not old enough to have dried out the seals. They probably used crap seal material on these cars.

I wonder if those O-rings are manufactured by Morton-Thiokol...
