I just went through my first tank full of gas after my Stage I install on my 5-speed and I got a little over 23 mpg. That's with small town, country highway and freeway driving. It will take a few more tanks of gas before I know just how much mpg I lost after the install. Right now it looks like 1 mpg.

That's interesting I gained about 1.5 MPG,ours
is an Auto/stick. Went to 24.5 best we have ever had.

You guys are great. I'm going to print this out and sell this performance upgrade to my wife as an "efficiency" upgrade.
Whooo hooo.

I also gained approx 1.5 mpg since the stage 1 upgrade, I have also spoken to OurPTGT (Kevin) who said his mileage got better since stage 1 install as well.

Just think, in about 2 1/2 years the extra 1.5/gallon will have paid off. Kinding aside, I would spend the money for stage 1 just for the tighter gear shifts. Extras would be the HP and the extra milage.

I got about 2 mpg improvement after the install.

This proves my theory:
If you have more Horespower and torque in the low RPMs, the car moves with less throttle and in turn less gas and ultimatetly, you have better milage. My wife has a 96HP Rice-Burner and The tank lasts less than my Staged 1 PT. When I drive it, I am all the time at 50%-75% Throttle VS my PT that I can move at the same speed with just 25% throttle or less... Ian

Sounds interesting, I may have to do the same as TurboT and show the wife the "huge" savings we'll see after stage one.
Agreed Ian, it makes sense, but I find if I have the extra power I tend to use it so no real MPG gains there. ![]() [8)]

I'm still running close to the same. Took a trip to Hoodriver this past weekend and averaged 27.25 MPG. That included 3-4 full throttle blasts to 85 MPH...those dang on-ramps!

i still have a problem understanding how you are gonna use less fuel with higer flow injectors and more demanding PCM programming for fuel.
