Default Stage 2 Kit

What would be the approxiamate benefits of installing a Stage II MOD kit without upgrading the exhaust? I would like to have an additional 20+ HP, without modding the exhaust system. I know that I can go with an nitros kit, but I really don't want to go that way.

Hello, Change the muffler for a free flow version. The rest of the exhaust I feel is more than sufficent. Spidy and I ran IDENTICAL times with the same mods, I had a straight through muffler and he had a stock unit. Identical E.T. and MPH.....

Thanks, that will work, now how about getting that extra HP so that I can get down into the mid to low 14's. I have a Stage 1, but nothing else on the engine.

At some point venting exhaust gas will be important. All the way from the O2 cap, Downpipe, CAT, and exhaust system. I don't know whether the PCM in the Stage II will be as involved in limiting torque and power as the stock and Stage I, but at some time that area will have to be addressed to move up the scale.

macster,
I don't know why you don't want anexhaust, I can just tell you that I really think that a nice low exhaust tone is very pleasing. We have yet to get more data from stage II people on any benefit over stock....

I want to squeeze as much HP out as I can of the stock configuration. I actually like the way my GT sounds, and it is almost fast enough. From idle if I step on it I can spin my Nitto's 225/17-45z from a dead stop with the traction control on. I think that I can get where I want to go, with the stock exhaust system which I like. But it will be the last thing that I will change.

As a matter of interest, no one yet has given before and after for Stage I concerning exhaust benefits. I am looking forward to this ,I hope, soon.

Stage II supposedly has "recommended" exhaust changes. All second hand information, and I don't even know if the engineers involved have settled what will be involved in a stage II conversion, or if there will even be a stage II kit released. There have been differing stories about what would constitute a stage II.[:I]

macster,

Are your nittos on stock rims, and if so how are they wearing (knowing that wear may be higher with wheels spinning), and how is the fit and look on the rim? Is tire roll in hard cornering noticable?
