Then again it all comes down to individuals...every single person is different...you can't just say that teens cause all the problems....cause most teens drive very well. Whatever...you didn't help the thread at all...you've just added to it.

I cannot imagine in what reality teens are better drivers than adults. Every day I see them racing here in So Cal cutting people off, trying to prove that their fart can equipped toyota (or what ever car they are driving) should be at the front of the line at the next stop light. Yes they should be racing at a track. But for the most part they know nothing about working on cars or anything involved with actually getting a car track ready. They think if it makes noise it is fast. This does come back to visit the parents though. If they would invest themselves in their kids lives and actually do something with their kids (like work on their cars) it would make a WORLD of difference. I am not aiming this at anyone here, I am just thinking of one young kid that I know who I feel has potential but it neglected by his father so he does exactly what I am describing here. Sorry for the rant.

See your aiming at ricers which are a completely different and ignorant group of people...again not just teens. And how often do you read a thread on here about someone.....again not just teens....beating someone on the street??? I read them all the time! And cars are what teens DO know how to do these days, more teens know how to work on cars then any other thing. Again, ricers are a completely different group of people. I'll restate what I said though, it's my opinion so I'm not wrong, and if you don't agree with the thread, don't read it, it's that simple. Not clickin on the link for the thread isn't going to kill you. And if you just can't resist cicking on it to see what people are saying about it...then obviously it strikes some sort of interest to you...so don't whine about how stupid it is....it's people discussing what they want to discuss.[xx(]

That's a pretty broad generalization, and I have a hard time believing you've met all 15 million of us out here in the 5 county LA area. Don't let your opinions of SoCal be swayed by what you see on television. I live in Orange County...ever see the show The O.C.? Yeah, it's like the old 90210, only 40 miles south and with a view of the ocean. They are both pure FANTASY! Yep, we have our rich and spoiled. Just like Miami, or Palm Beach. Or New York, Chicago, Dallas, or Oklahoma City.

I grew up outside of Detroit. Talk about a city that gets a bad rep in the media for being so violent. That is just plain wrong. I don't care where you go in the world, you're going to find nutcases, but the majority of people are pretty normal. They have to be or you'd have anarchy. But any time you put a few million people together in fairly close proximity you're going to have some wackos show up. I've seen kids in their ricers carving up traffic on the local freeways, even seen a few of them stuff those cars into the center concrete divider, sometimes taking an innocent with them. It's those occurances that cause the cops to suspect almost anyone with a modded car. Unfair, sure, but what do you expect? And I know plenty of people who go out to Buttowillow Raceway, or the Pomona Fairgrounds (site of the NHRA Winternationals) to run their cars. Their cars are hot, and street legal. But they drive responsibly on public highways. It's called respect.

Rant over.

I can't believe some of the replies to this topic! You'd rather have kids (who think they're immortal) racing on "empty" streets rather than hitting a bong? (Oh yea, pot's bad because the gov't told me so [:0] )

I take serious issue with the comment "let people drink and drive and kill themselves". Does the poster of this comment realize that >90% of drunk drivers that get into accidents don't get a scratch? Almost all drunk driving fatalities are the people who get hit by drunk drivers.

Gottta get in on this one. First, 16 years old is too young to drive anyway. Should be 18. As for street racing of any kind -- Just plain DUMB. People die street racing. That is the way this old man, who was a street racer in the '60's feels about it.

Mike

i have street raced but that was when i was young and dumb. now i am old and dumb and still i can not resist blowing away some ricer with a fart can and a k&n. but i still think it is very risky and no i don't think it should be legal. there are tracks and they are the best place to race.

mike do you have kids? do you want to drive them every place they want to go? what about when they have a date, do you want to be there?
