Turbo lag is the time it takes for the exhaust to spool the turbo. Just clearing that up... (We have VERY little thanks to our teeny compressor)
Yes, but the regular turbo lag exhibited by the spooling of the turbo (hence some peoples preference for a supercharger) isn't was I'm referring to. I don't particularly like the feeling just before the auto trans shifts - the "nose over" I mentioned - where it feels like the power has been sapped. If the S1 PCM takes care of this then I'm a happy camper.

THIS IS UNBELIEVEABLE!
I wonder why our experiences should be so different? Of course, it is just within the last several weeks that they had this S1 discussion with DCX, so maybe that has changed their attitude a bit. Still, that doesn't account for them treating you poorly the rest of the time. When I bought my Stratus ES there back in 2000 it was supposed to have the 6-disc in dash CD changer in it, but it didn't. They ordered one and told me to come in on such and such a day, and when I showed up the piece still wasn't there. They were very apologetic, asked when would be convenient for me to come back and even requested I try to have my gas tank as empty as possible as they wanted to buy me a tank for my troubles. When I came back a couple days later they installed it an hour or so, washed and vacuumed my car, and filled up the tank. All subsequent vists were equally pleasant, which had a lot to do with me buying the Cruiser there.

Still, with regards to S1 I'll press these guys pretty hard when I'm there next week, make sure they're willing to back up their talk.

[]Hey, Mike-in-Orange and Cal Cruzer. By your names thought you are Calif. guys, but you were talking about Click Chrysler/
dodge/Jeep. Are you in the Tucson area? Just had Stage 1 installed today in Phoenix (I'm from Tuscon) at Bill Luke Chrysler. They seem to be very mod friendly. The shop foreman said his GT was the 1st one they installed the S1 on, and they have installed several and seemed very knowledgeable on them. But like he said, if you out ram-rodding around with a S1 on and you blow an engine, your pretty much on your own as far as the warrenty goes, which makes sense. Lets face it, we may have to face music if we have problems??? Mike, a friend just had S1 installed on his GT, which is the auto-stick (mine has a 5-SP), and he thinks the S1 will cure your "nose over" problem. The power does come on very abruptly now, more so than before the S1. Haven't run WOT yet so don't know how that will be?? Good luck on your installation.

Hi go-vair. Cal Cruzer and I are in SoCal - He's in Huntington Beach and I'm in the City of Orange. We're talking about Tuttle Click Chrysler here in Orange County. Hopefully I'll have as good an experience with my S1 install as you and your friend did. I'll let you know.

Mike, the "nose over" you mention is the pre-programmed shift of the stock PCM. The Stage 1 PCM completely eliminates this. You will more than pleased with the new shifting pattern, the slightly higher soft rev-limit and the increased low end boost. It will drive like a completely different car. Trust me on this one. You can't go wrong.

Thanks PT-Dave, that sounds great, exactly what I was looking for. What do you think about the BOV - should I or what's the point other than making my Cruiser "fart" like Jason_L's?

Mike,
I like the BOV personally. Performance-wise? Well it is really nothing. The idea behind the external BOV and aa opposed to the stock recirculating valve is that it is better to vent hot boosted air out of the system...and it makes a cool sound. It's a cheap mod and easy to undo if you don't like it. Just keep the old bolts.

[]Love the idea that the gas mileage may increase with the Stage 1, seeing that premium runs about 2 bucks a gallon. Just installed mine yesterday. Will report when I get some MPG data. Hope I can keep my foot out of it that long.[8]
