Default 4 Weeks to order Stage 1????

Went and talked to my dealer today, asked him to get together all the info we'd need for me to go S1. Service Manager called up a couple of techs who have installed S1 in the past, mostly SRT4s, and one of them confirmed that the '04 S1 upgrade is the PCM only - injectors are OK as is. Both guys with experience say that it takes a minimum of 4 weeks to get the parts in because they have to order it with my VIN number so it can be programmed before it ships. Have I been missing something on this forum?? Is this correct???? In this age of instant gratification I wanted it done NOW! Well, next week actually.

tthrift, you've ordered/installed a bunch of these. Is this 4 week wait correct?

go-vair, can you confirm or dispell the rumor that S1 for an '04 is just the PCM? These guys are telling me it includes the injectors, but I thought the stock '04 injectors were essentially the S1 bits. Not that this seems to change the price at all, but what the heck.

'04's are pcm only. Install time should be consideralby less since they don't have to pull the upper manifold. They must not have done an '04 yet. The PCM is about a 20-30 minute job including a coffee break. The 04 has the bigger injectors from the factory.

Is there any chance that a Stage 1 upgrade for a 180HP is different than doing it to a GT? I know the final result is the same.

I've heard the same thing that Cal Cruzer said that the '04 already has the bigger injectors already installed.

[:I]Not that familar with the 180 HP Turbo, but I have read somewhere that the S1 on the '04 180 does bring it up to the GT HP. Don't know how true that is?? It seems like a big jump from 180 HP to 240HP with just the PCM and larger injectors??

My understanding is that the only real difference between the GT and the 180 is the PCM. Maybe the 180 uses the injectors from the '03. I did read on another board where a guy had S1 installed into his son's 180 and he felt it was the same final result as S1 on his own GT. I think I'll head over there and pick his brain. Hopefully tthrift or 3barboost will have a look at this thread.

Scratch that. Here's the thread, and it's on this forum! http://www.ptcruiserlinks.com/forum/...?TOPIC_ID=4689

Mike,

The Stage 1 kit for a 2004 PT is PCM only. If you have a 2004 PT turbo , you have the injectors already, whether or not you have a 180 or 220 HP turbo.

The only differences between the 180 and 220 HP engines are the PCMs and gas quality (regular vs. super unleaded).

FRM has installed the Stage 1 kit on his son's (?) 180 HP turbo. He said it works just fine, even with the non-Autostick automatic tranny that comes standard with the 180 HP engine.
