ummm...macster, the subaru WRX is WAY more of a car than our GT. About 1 grand US, it will beat the hell out of our "great" stage 2 GT's. You throw a Turbo XS HPBC, and that's it, and it will probably spank our stage 2 GT. The price of Stage 2 is rediculous, and offers minimal gains for the price, atleast for canadians!

Verdict= you can keep your kit mopar
I will keep my kit, but the WRX driven by an ordinary person like me is fair game for me and my S2 PT.

Look I love the WRX and very seriously thought about getting one. So I did a little research and ........ found out that we can run with them. Look at the Dyno Charts and look at the weight and preuse the WRX forums for the real times that the stockers are putting down (15-15.6's)for ordinary folks. Blah, blah, blah. Like Rolo says ain't but one way to find out.

macster <--- don't even like PT's

Don't get me wrong, I love my PT! I would seriously like to bump the hp. I just don't like being jacked around.

I do not think that the problem is at 3Bar's level.......on his own I'll bet he could turn our little grocery getters into serious machinery; but he is not DC, just a cog in a very big wheel who's center is in Germany.[xx(]

Hey I beat down a WRX before, wasn't even a contest, nothing to it, just pedal to the metal and hold on past 120mph About S2 Cool your jets, you'll have time to burn rubber soon enough. Personally I'm not heavy on the mods like some of you, and cheers to all that are pushing your PT's to the limit, but my take on S2 is, I'd rather wait and make sure all the bugs are programmed out of the PCM until I upgrade, more time the better because I need time to save some dinero for the coilover's and bars I plan on getting. So a few months from now when my piggy bank is full again and my PT's susspension and handling can handle the extra hp there's good ole S2 ready and waiting for me.[8)]

Re"the WRX" Can you describe whe race? That is did he get you from the dig and you ran him down or did you get him from the dig? The trick with the AWD is the launch. It takes a while for the manual tranny owners to get the hang of the clutch. The auto tranny owners are "fair" game for us.

As far as the suspension, I'd go sway bars before I lower it. Then I would do the shocks, (Koni's here)and then lower it maybe. If I had it do all over again, I'd probably wouldn't lower it.

Sorry, I didn't realize I was adverstising for something you couldn't buy for the PT anyway[:I]. It was meant to be an information post regarding SRT's being able to buy stage 2, and not an advertising for anyone. But whatever.......................................... ....................

True!

If the SRT-4 Kit has been released with pricing, why hasn't the PT pricing been released? See post from SRT site.

Can't agree with the performance contest with the WRX. I've got a friend with an 02 - he's put on a larger turbo, intercooler,bc, exhaust and PCM but nothing to the internals. According to the shop he gets the work done at, he's putting out about 325 hp - and it feels like it. It spools incredibly fast but there is a bit of lag at the bottom end. You're at red line before you know it and with AWD it grips like a slot car. The appearance is ho-hum - part of what kept me from getting one. I like the looks of my GT way better. Fortunately, he shifts slower than my Grandma...and she's been gone for years! [8)]

I couldn't get a real feel for how you stand on this. I'm taking it that you are saying that a modified WRX with the above items should be an S2 PTGT. If that's what you mean, I'm in agreement on that. But.. I think that an S2 PTGT auto will take a stock WRX. If he is putting out 325HP he should take an S2GT with with no problem. If he has an upgraded turbo now he is in the $4000.00 range for Mods vice our $$$.00 hopefully that price that you quoted included installation and tuning. They are cool cars.

Yes, Macster, he's got an easy 4k into the mods - vs. an S2 GT (figure the rumored price of an S2 at 1500 plus minimum goodies i.e exhaust, etc.) at, say, 2500.
Vs. a stocker WRX?Straight line performance should go to the S2. The Rex is wicked fast through the corners though...we'd get spanked big time. Even with coils, bars, and konis, our CG is too high and that AWD just launches out of the twisties.

Hey Macster,

Been a while since I BEAT DOWN that WRX, it was a white, wagon style, lowered with some ground effects and I remember stopping at the light of this intersection that curves slightly into the freeway. After the light two lanes turn into one so the person who gets beat down has to merge behind. Anyway this white WRX pulls up next to me a stops abruptly, surging forward as if to race, 2 fast 2 furious style right. So when the light turns green we launch, for a second he gets ahead of me and I can see him changing gears as I start gaining. I forgot that I had the trans in auto stick, but with the accelerator floored the rev limiter kicked in and moved thru the gears pretty quickly, and my PT just kept pulling. When we entered the first turn on to the freeway the lanes squeezed down to one and the WRX faded behind, I just held on and watched for any cars ahead. By the time I was on the freeway I was already cruizing at 120mph and all I could see of the little WRX were those oversized fog lights in my rear view mirror.

The WRX is an o.k. car, tight engine, awd, ehhh, but a PT takes the prize in style and with S2, I think it makes all the better. Call me an optomist, but it's all good

By the way thanks for the suspension tip Mac, bars then coilovers for me, then 3 inch downpipe with high flow cat, BTG Straight thru, then Hello S2.
