Yes, Macster, he's got an easy 4k into the mods - vs. an S2 GT (figure the rumored price of an S2 at 1500 plus minimum goodies i.e exhaust, etc.) at, say, 2500.
Vs. a stocker WRX?Straight line performance should go to the S2. The Rex is wicked fast through the corners though...we'd get spanked big time. Even with coils, bars, and konis, our CG is too high and that AWD just launches out of the twisties.
Hey thanks for the info. I'm looking forward to doing my S2 install.

Hey Macster,

I forgot that I had the trans in auto stick, but with the accelerator floored the rev limiter kicked in and moved thru the gears pretty quickly, and my PT just kept pulling. When we entered the first turn on to the freeway the lanes squeezed down to one and the WRX faded behind, I just held on and watched for any cars ahead. By the time I was on the freeway I was already cruizing at 120mph and all I could see of the little WRX were those oversized fog lights in my rear view mirror.

The WRX is an o.k. car, tight engine, awd, ehhh, but a PT takes the prize in style and with S2, I think it makes all the better. Call me an optomist, but it's all good

By the way thanks for the suspension tip Mac, bars then coilovers for me, then 3 inch downpipe with high flow cat, BTG Straight thru, then Hello S2.
Cool, I feel the same way. It also gives people quite a shock when I pass them. "If" I go S3 I will get into the 3" downpipe and hi-flow cat. But I'll be keeping my ear to the ground in order to hear how you guys are doing. You're welcome on the suspension response.

Hey Macster - I was looking at the mopar site on the Stage 2 and the Stage 3 for the SRT.It kind of contradicts itself by saying the following about the Stage 3:

"The Stage 3 PCM uses that carefully-crafted Stage 2 PCM calibration along with different hardware that can manage all the air and fuel required to post these increased power numbers.

PCM hardware/software modifications to support and manage Stage 3 Fuel System "

So does this mean that they are using the same PCM from Stage 2 with tweaks to the software management for the fuel side of the thing only, or that they're using a straight-up Stage 2 PCM with no modifications? If it's the latter, then a Stage 3 PT is a shoe-in.If it's the former, then Stage 3 on the PT may be harder to figure out, if only marginally harder.

Kinda confuses me, which isn't that hard to do.

On another note, the site pretty much conformed for me that their will not be a Turbo Toys option specific to the PT.I wonder if the Dial-A-Boost and the Racing Gas switches could be fanagled into the PT or if there is some cohesion that has to go on with the PCM to get them to work right.Obviously it seems that the race gas switch would be simply bumping the timing, but the only electronic way I could see to 'Dial-A-Boost' would be to alter, via the switch and therefore the PCM, the signals coming and going in and out of the new MAP and TIP.

Thoughts?

If this keeps up, along with what appear on the surface to be downgraded #s on the PT Stage 2 (265 down to 250?!) then I may just leave my car alone and trade it on an SRT-4 in the next several months, as much as I would hate to.We get a Supplier discount with DCX, but so far it doesn't apply to any SRT vehicles!!AARRGGHH!!

Hey Bro
discouraged. AFAS 250 or 265 are concerned, I will need to see what the price will be, I'm no rush I'm patient. I will get the S2 if for nothing else other than to increase my car's driveability. It's a toy and I will enjoy it while I have it. If there is a way to get the tranny to live with S3, I'll probably get that also. I'm having too much fun with the car.
I'll keep the car cause its real cool. I don't really need a lot more HP than what I have. The car is almost there for me. As far as the prices of the S2 kits go well, they are what they are. Do I like it, nope, am I bent out of shape, nope. I just want one of those S2 kits and possiblity the S3 kits. This car makes me feel like a kid again. I feel cool when I drive it and unlike when I was younger I can buy stuff for it. Also I get a lot of fun testing it. But no way am I going to trade or sell my PT. I'm gonna sit tight and have me as much fun as I can with it.

If I was going to buy another car, I would start praying for the new EVO to be available in the US. Now, that is one hot machine, which is affordable, and it will eat SRT4's without even breaking a sweat.

rambling as always

A stock WRX with a good driver will OWN a stock PT with a good driver. Period. They can get to 60 in less than 6 seconds stock. You can't do that with the PT. And since they have been out for a while and their CPUs aren't as hitler-like as our own, they have a lot mroe tuning options to make them go fast than we do. And if you want a performance upgrade, you can get the STI right from the dealer, full warranty and all, with 300HP.

And not to bash a vendor tha doesn't do PT tuning, but VISHNU tuning is NOT where I would take my car if I wanted speed. Period. They are idiots, and demonstrated it by attempting to tune an EVO for Car & Driver...it was depresing that for a few grand, I think they squeezed out about 5 HP from the car.

Joe we were talking S1/S2 versus stock WRX. So what is your take on that? And where would you take your WRX to have it tuned?

WRX STi - MSRP $31,120
PT GT - MSRP $26,050

How about we compare apples and oranges there Bro?

But if I were to get a 12k civic or focus, I could use the extra 15-20k and spank both. It's all relative I guess
