Thanks TripleJack.

Sounds like it's probably better to save a little more money and go up to the Stage 2 kit right? 265HP? Cool.

Well, I'm taking a 'Wait And See' approach for now. I want to see finalized numbers on the rating and cost of Stage 2 for the PT before I make my descision.

How is it possible that the 180 hp engine and the 220 hp engine would both be 235 hp with stage 1? I thought the 180 had a smaller turbo? If they do equal the same hp, then what is the advantage of having the 220 hp GT?
I'm gonna be upset if a LE with stage 1 beats my stock DC2. I guess I could have saved some money and still had the same hp.[xx(]

The only difference between the 180HP and the 220HP GT is the PCM. The 180HP is essentially computer de-tuned to run on 87 octane gas but everything else is the same. Swap the PCM, fill 'er up with 91 ocatane and you've got a whole new animal. As a matter of fact, the '04 turbos even come with the high flow injectors that the '03s only get with Stage 1. Apparently a supply problem early on. Whatever.

Opting for the DC2 or a GT gives you:
17" tires/wheels to my 16" (although my new 17's will be in on Monday)
Autostick if you go auto to my plain auto tranny (no 5sp option available)
Traction control if you go auto to mine being foot modulation only
Tighter suspension than mine
4 wheel disks to my front disk/rear drum (you even get bigger brakes up front than mine does)
Of course you have the DC2 so you get EVERYTHING, including special paint! Where's the bad in that????

But mine is a Platinum Series, so I get lots of chrome trim (shift bezel, nicer door sill trim, sating steering wheel spokes and shift knob, bright pedals, chrome door pulls, chromed grille etc) plus two tone leather with added suede trim. Sort of the luxury edition of the PT Cruiser.

I got what I want, you got what you want.[^] I say we both mod and go eat some rice for breakfast![8)]

Thanks, that cleared it up. Your right though, the only reason I bought a new car ( I swore I would never buy one brand new ) was because it was a DC2 with all the special things it came with. I was going to wait for the Dodge magnum's to come out, but after seeing and driving the DC2, I couldn't pass it up. This coming from a guy who swore he would never buy a turbo FWD car again after my experience with a 1986 Daytona Shelby. Never say never I guess.
I plan on keeping my Cruiser for a while,(5-7 years) but then I'll probably get a Magnum, especially if they redesign the Cruiser in the form that the spy photos show. Once you've had a taste of an old mopar V8 and rear wheel drive, it would be hard to pass up a new factory version no matter how cool and fast my DC2 is!
