Default Stage 2 Question

I have Stage 1 which puts me at 240hp, a modified ram airbox and custom turbo up pipe and a 2.5" catback exhaust. I figure this puts me in the neighborhood of 250hp. I'm going to get 03baggedturbo's upper charge pipe which will add another 30+hp and scottmech's 3" DP for another 7-10hp at the wheels. That will put me in the neighborhood of 40+ more hp to bring it up to 280+hp. I'm afraid if I do get Stage 2 it will put me past the hp limits for the 5 speed tranny and the hp for the engine and probably the half shafts. I'm thinking I don't need Stage 2 after I add these mods. I will have even more hp than Stage 2 alone would bring me up to and a lot cheaper so I'll have bucks for other things I want. What do you all think?

Mean here's my thoughts....get all your parts on . Drive your car ,enjoy ! Dyno the car with your parts on . Not to burst your bubble but until you dyno your car ,you'll never know what whp you're putting out ! On paper your figures and thoughts make sense but the "real" proof would be dynoing.

Tom,
I'm guessing a S2 car will still walk away from you. It's not just the peak HP but the whole power band. Look what a S1 did for your car...it turned it into a whole nother animal, I'm guessing S2 will do the same. I'd wait to see what the SRT4 boys say before you end up spending your S2 $$$ on something else.

I also agree with flashbk2, the sum of your add on parts do not equate your total HP. Also, if your running street tires you won't be able to hook up hard enough to break an axle in my opinion. If you install a set of slicks and start dropping the clutch...that's a whole new ballgame.

Deen

Plus you gotta figure that charge pipe is compared with a bone stock airbox... Stop bench racing and get on a dyno before you make the decision to buy or not to buy stage 2. Also...remember to figure in the tranny loss to arrive at flywheel #....

There is no way you are going to get 30+ hp with the upper charge pipe? How did you arrive at that number? Thats SII right there.
Even though I installed SI, the amx turbo up pipe and plan on installing a 3" down pipe there is no way we are going to realize 30 or 40 more horse power with the PCM controlling the waste gate. We may optimize the stock or SI pcm with our mods but unless you bypass the PCM control of the waste gate you are not going to see these kinds of gains long term. I do believe that SII is the only way to improve part throttle drivability(if it is different than SI?) and is going to be extremely mod friendly with pleanty of juice @ WOT to boost our little hearts out. The only problem will be reliability and longevity of the engine. I am talking about head gaskets, rings, pistons, bearings and valve train components, things are going to wear and break. The more you blow on these the sooner they break. This is all part of going faster so be prepared the pay the price, something else you may want to consider.

From the dyno numbers Adam and I got testing his kit. Have a look at http://www.ptcruiserlinks.com/forum/...?TOPIC_ID=7016

Do it again in a week and do not reset the PCM. Then maybe I will believe.

Based on how Mean said the Dyno Tech did the pull, and the fact that the guy didn't even notice the AC being on, I still have to believe that he did the pull all wrong. Mean said they did the pull in 2nd gear.
