umm, just a reply to that deactivation of cylinders thing, cadillac tried it in the late 70's...failed misserably. We do have better comp controls now, but I sure would not be itchen to get one for the first few years....
Although there were some reliability problems, I bought a new Cadillac V8-6-4's in 1981. Drove it for 10 years and put over 100,000 miles on it. NO ENGINE PROBLEMS whatsoever. I finally sold it because of problems with the fuel pump shorting out in the gas tank and stranding me. It was really quite a good idea but you are correct that the electronics are much better now. By 1983 the V8-6-4 was only available in the limousine.

I hope that Chrysler did their homework and got it right on the Hemi.

I'm aware that Chrysler has an SRT-6 X-Fire, I was hoping for a SRT-6 PT Cruiser [].

I think even the SRT4 crowd is currently driving the best of the SRT4's at this time and probably for the future. I remember a post in the SRT4 forums recently stating that a forum member had spoken to Gina and she had said the STR4 crowd would NOT like the redesign of the SRT4's when it finally was released.

Also my original post in this thread included a number of trucks since current Cruisers are considered "light-trucks" (except for the new PT convertible). There are plenty other new cars that are starting to be released in the 250 HP range or up also.

Deen
P.S. I have to admit I purchased my PT for looks also...but the manual 5-spd and Turbo sure helped clinch the deal![8)]

Well..... would be nice to see a PT GT have the name changed to Chrysler (Where the GT badge on rear was) and SRT 4 (where the 2.4L Turbo - High Output badge)and give it a few mods similar to the Dodge SRT-4, but I guess I'm dreaming .

My planned body kit and lowering springs will make the cruiser look a litte more aggressive, and plan to change the badges to what I stated above to see how people would react to an SRT-4 Cruiser. Only performance mods I will have is the Mopar cat-back and the Stage 2 (debating to stick the Stage 2 in there).

Yes I do have a 5-speed to go with it [].

This thread started to remind me of the SkunkWorks 300 HP SUper Cruiser, that could be a good candidate as an SRT-4 Cruiser []/

If they wanted a real GT, they woulda made it look like the 1999 GT concept. That had no issues with intent. Drop a nice powerplant in an otherwise ordinary PT, says a whole lot. They didn't drop a turbo in a plain ol neon, they jacked that thing full of steroids...intent is clear with the SRT-4. Design divergence.

Id buy a new GT in a few years if it looked like that
