Tday my AC went out - just when temps hit 108 here in the valley, oh joy- and I took it in to the dealer to see what's up.
Somewhere in the back of my brain, I remember some issues with the Stage One and the AC but I couldn't find the thread. Does anybody know what it was? It had been working fine until the heat wave today. Didn't hear the compressor clutch activating but wasn't really listening for it when I flipped the switch back and forth. Fan works - only it blows warm air... ![]() |

tezz,
You AC will also not turn on if the R-143a is low. It's a safety feature to prevent the compressor from burning out. Scott

The issue with Stage 1 and the AC only involved putting the 2003 Stage 1 kit on a 2004 or vice versa. DC changed the AC wiring apparently between years.

I've had my AC sut down about three or four times.
I would turn off and on the car, it would work again. The AC clutch is controlled by the PCM (go figure) It would command it to shut down if you are under heavy acceleration and turn back on when you would let go of the gas. This is the normal operation. Since I installed S-1 I have found that the PCM would shut down the AC clutch and not turn it back on if you would floor it and let go real quick (I guess, Program Bugs). once I noticed this, now I only floor it when I am sure I can go the distance[?] Ian

Thanks guys.
If this happens again, I'll try shutting it down and restarting...only with S1 fun, my right foot is constantly glued to the floorboard. I'm sure if they had sent me an 04 PCM instead of an 03, this issue would have raised it's ugly head by now. At least my brain's not totally defective about reading an S1/AC issue. They fixed it (for free) by draining the system and recharging the freon. No leaks were found, but where would the freon go if it hadn't leaked? It's only a year old, 11k miles. The Freon Fairy?
