Mike how do you KNOW that you do not have to quick learn? I am not trying to aggravate anyone but I donÂ’t want to see mis-information out there. As I said others, an Engineer from DCX (3_bar)and the people who make(Flight Systems) and flashed my Stage I could not answer it, how can you?
I understand your skeptcism and don't blame you - no aggrivation here!. My info comes from brngrhd who's a DCX tech. I trust this guy's knowledge and experience with S1 on the PT. See his posts on this very thread regarding the quick learn.

It is not apples to apples when you say why would DC do this. We are talking about Stage 1 not factory. I do believe on stock it is a flash as pinion or any other data might be needed. That said, NO DC I know of can read or flash a Stage I. They don't have the code. If they did I may believe it. Also I may be wrong but it is the tranny sensor that is getting this information and I don't know if it is held in the ECU or in the tranny sensor when a battery is disconnected. I really want to know this answer so please all lets keep looking and debating it. The reason I want to know is I would like to disconnect the battery every so often to clear the ECU as other have found it learns after awhile.

let me try this one once

laf is talking about flashing the ngc (wich is on 03 and newer is tcm and pcm in one) no we can not flash them. we do not have the program if we did it would be s1 for all[8)]

mike is talking about doing a quicklearn and yes we can do this and do do this. it is the same thing as the drive learn that it tells you to do when installing s1 but does it with a hand held computer called a drb3.

as mike said i am a tech with dcx. my area it in transmissions on front drive stuff ie 41te. i have rebuilt MANY of them in the vans, same thing.

you do a quicklearn when: the computer is replaced
the trans has been rebuilt

if you flash the engine controller side of the ngc you don't even need to do a quick learn. i have never heard of doing a quicklearn when the batter was disconnected. dcx has never published anything to this matter either. like cal cruzer said loss of power does not mean everything is gone.

Gary ol' buddy! I JUST had Bellvue CP install my stage 1 also!
*I* did the quick learn myself - SUPER easy and fun. Shifts really odd at first, but give it 20 min of the prescribed learning and it is excellent! I added a boost controller for even more zip.

Mike from what I've read you're right; once you do the Quicklearn disconnecting the neg bat only takes the "non-StageI" stuff back to normal, what ever that is[:I]? Anyway, I'm printing the install information...TThrift shipped today!!!!!

NOTE: With your new Mopar PT Turbo Stage 1 Upgrade
kit, you also receive new transmission calibrations
(automatic transmission only). After installing your
Mopar PT Turbo Stage 1 Upgrade Kit, you must perform
the following transmission quick learn procedure in
order to establish a baseline for shift quality. FAILURE
TO PERFORM THE FOLLOWING QUICK LEARN
PROCEDURE CAN RESULT IN POOR SHIFT QUALITY
AND POSSIBLE TRANSMISSION DAMAGE. YOUR
CAR CAN BE DRIVEN PRIOR TO PERFORMING THE
FOLLOWING PROCEDURE, HOWEVER, NO WIDE OPEN
THROTTLE (WOT) UPSHIFTS SHOULD BE DONE
UNTIL THIS PROCEDURE HAS BEEN PERFORMED.
Once you have performed the following procedure
and established a baseline, shift quality will continue
to improve as the transmission control module
continues to “learn” your particular driving style.
• Allow the transmission fluid to reach normal operating
temperature. To do so, apply the parking brake and let
the engine idle in neutral until the engine cooling fan
has cycled (turned on and off) one complete time.
• Perform 15 launches from 0 to 50 mph at 25% to 50%
throttle and brake lightly to a complete stop following
each launch. This will address the 1-2 and 2-3 upshifts,
as well as the 2-1 coastdowns as you brake to a stop.
• Next, drive at 40 mph and tip into the throttle 50% to
100% until you achieve a 4-3 or 4-2 kickdown. Perform
this 10 times.
• After these first 25 shifts, the quick learn procedure
should be complete. As mentioned above, shift quality
will continue to improve following the quick learn
procedure. Without these first 25 shifts, however,
your car could have poor shift quality."

Make sure you talk to your dealer about this very specifically. If you go to http://www.mopar.com/pdf/7256_PTInstructionSheets.pdf you can print out the entire instructions. These instructions are for an '03 so the part about installing injectors does not apply to your '04 model. Nonetheless, the tranny quick learn is extremely important. My dealer told me that they would program the tranny and knew nothing about the quick learn procedure. One of the many reasons I didn't buy from them, or let them install it. Whether the dealer does it or you do it, just make absolutely certain it gets done.
unfortunately that link doesnt work anymore, just fyi =)
