Sorry I didn't clarify my question...it should have read: is there any difference between the Greddy Turbo and the turbo in my PT? I'm trying to find out what kind of turbo I would need to upgrade to in order to reach 300+ hp. I know I have to beef the tranny as well as the lower end of my engine...just looking for options on the turbo. Thanks!

I recently asked about the Mopar S1 performance enhancement kit at my dealer and they said (a) the car would not be street legal, and (b) it would void the engine warranty. Are either of these statements true?

They said they could order the kit and sell it to me, but that they wouldn't install it.
Order the stage 1 from tthrift and have a different dealer install it. Sounds like your dealer is one that will blame any mod for a problem. My dealer installed my stage 1 and said stage 1 would only void my warranty if it caused the problem. I have had my GT in for warranty work and never have had a problem. Besides, a dealer cannot void your warranty just because you have stage 1. They would have to prove it and some bad dealers will try to. Get a different dealer. They sound like assholes. You know, if you have an '04 then installing stage 1 is a piece of cake.

I own an '03, is it much more difficult?

If you are "somewhat mechanically skilled", probably not--just four larger injectors and a gasket along with the S1 PCM.

I'm not familiar with the Greddy Turbo, but I don't think you need to upgrade the turbo to reach 300HP, but from what I understand that is about the max you'll see from the factory hairdryer. The engine has already been beefed sufficiently that it will handle well over 300HP - more like 500HP or more can be had. I've seen a 600HP Neon SRT4 - same engine as ours as you know. The auto trans....well, that's another story.

Also, putting more than 300HP to the ground will be tricky as well since we don't have LSD and I'm not so sure there's even one available for us. Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on this. You can come awfully close to 300HP with Stage 1, a really killer exhaust (custom 3" turbo back), 03baggedturbo's V.A.K. intake (CAI & UCP combo), a carefully set up boost controller, a more aggressive fuel system and ignition setup.

At the risk of getting long winded here (oops, too late!) Stage 1 is just a killer upgrade for the Turbo Lite. I installed mine myself in about a half hour (including the tranny quick learn procedure) and the jump from 180HP to 235-240HP is just incredible! For $350 or so you'll never stop smiling.

Thanks Mike. I was already looking into an S1 as well as the VAK. I have heard nothing but great things about both. I was thinking Borla duals for breathing duties. I luckily have a VERY understanding wife, lol. She says I can do whatever I want to the Cruiser, I just gotta work the OT to pay for it!! This is such an awesome forum. I do believe I will be a regular. Tons of good info and even better people! Talk to y'all soon!

And the bit about the car no longer being "street legal"? Was that a bunch of bunk or is that true?

Sorry to be so obtuse, but I am a mechanical neophyte.
