I am in the market fot a gt turbo and will be doing the stage 1 right away so my question is will the hp and tourqe equal out after the stage 1 upgrade or is the gt always going to be higher then the turbo lite

You will get the same HP and torque from either engine with Stage 1.

Installing stage 1 on a GT (automatic)or a Turbo-Lite will net you the same performance. However, a Stage 1 5-Speed manual GT (Manuals are not available for Turbo-Lites)will get you roughly 0.3 to 0.5 sec advantage over the automatics.
In addition, the GT's come with disk brakes and stiffer suspensions. With the crazy Chrsyler rebates going for PT GT's, you can actually get one in the very low 20k range. Hell, with the rebates, they are comming soo close to the SRT-4's selling price [:0]. |

Also, the GT has several extra "goodies" over the turbolite such as 17-inch wheels, Autostick, heavier suspension, disc-brakes all around, and traction-control--well worth the extra money, IMHO. [8D]

I have an 04 Turbo Lite that came with touring suspension ( I know, not as good as the GT, but better than a N/A) 4 wheel discs, 4 wheel ABS, and traction control. All the goodies except 17's, which I planned on 18's anyway. I love my Turbo Lite... if only I could figure out a way to "re-tune" that dern computer to get the 40hp back!! LOL

1. $460 for the kit. 2. 4 weeks minimum to get it. 3. $200 to install. 4. Kit includes PCM & injectors, even for the '04 model. Here's the TRUTH! 1. I paid closer to $350 from tthrift on this forum (parts guy at a dealer in VA) 2. got it in about a week, including shipping from VA to CA 3. installed it myself (free) in 30 minutes, including tranny quick learn (if you can handle a 10mm wrench you can do this) 4. Kit for '04 is ONLY the PCM. The install instructions are different for the '03 and '04 because, yes, there are no injectors t install on the '04 when upgrading to Stage 1 I used the $350 I saved ($150 parts + $200 labor) and got a Stull billet beltline kit and factory style rear spoiler on sale at raceandstreet.com Not a bad bonus. |

You'll be happier with a 2 letter word on the left side of the hatch and a strip on the right stating, "High Output."
