Default Stage Kit Contents?

Ok so I wanted to gather information about what exactly was contained in each Stage kit. The information I have found is from the SRT-4 Neon, but same engine, so close enough right?

Stage 1: Est (240HP 250ft.lbs)
Stage 1 PCM
04 or newer Injectors

Stage 2: Est (260HP 280ft.lbs, +5hp with "turbo toys", 280HP 300ft.lbs with 100+ octane)
Stage 2 PCM
Upgraded Wastegate
682CC stage 2/3 Injectors
3 BAR MAP&TIP sensors

Optional Stage 2 "Turbo Toys"
Intercooler sprayer system
100+ octane fuel map
Manual Boost controller

Stage 3: Est (over 300HP and 320ft.lbs)
682CC Stage 2/3 Injectors
3 BAR MAP&TIP sensors
Bigger Turbo (model TD05)
Stage 3 PCM
75PSI fuel pump
"demand-regulated" fuel rail

Also recommended performance parts:
Mopar Cat-Back exhaust system
Mopar Cat-Delete Kit
Mopar Performance Turbo Blow-Off Valve
Mopar Performance Clutch
Quaife LSD
Stage 1 springs/swaybars
Stage 2 fixed valve Coilover Kit
Stage 3 Adjustable valve Coilover Kit

If you could provide any information as to what you know was included in each kit.

That's great info.

However for the PT, Mr. Chrysler only made the Stage 1 kit. There was never a Stage 2 nor 3 and no Toys for the PT. As far as I can tell from what was reported on this forum back in the day, the 2003 Stage 1 came with PCM, injectors and a badge. The ones after that (2004 thru 2007) just came with the PCM and possibly a badge. Starting in 2004, all turbo PT's (GT's and Turbo Lite's) got the larger injectors as standard equipment. So there was no longer a need to include them in the Stage 1 kit.

The Stage 2 PCM for the PT sold by Syked Tuning is based on the SRT4 Stage 2 but modified for the PT.

Yeah, that's what my research turned up. But looking at what I could find, It does seem like you could get all the parts in the stage 2 kit, and get someone to tune it. I don't know if they could get the rated 260HP out of it, but If the stock block of the SRT-4 could handle 300+HP with a bigger turbo. I don't see why us GTs couldn't run the stock turbo to it's limits with a custom made stage 2.

Also looking at old pictures of the stock turbo vs the Stage 3 Neon turbo... the Dimensions are really similar, I would LOVE to find a stage 3 Turbo and try to slap it onto a PT. Problem is..... Impossible to find unless on a rare stage 3 Neon that isn't destroyed yet, that the owner wants $8000 for it. So right now.... I added up the prices and a "build your own" is ~$600 for the parts of a stage 2, and then your just looking at shipping and finding someone to make a tune for it, that can actually put out 260HP.

I'm still trying to find a dyno shop that is willing to do a before and after on the stage 1 for you guys.

Just another question...

What is this?
Mopar Performance P4510628: Stage 3 Coilover Suspension Kit 2003-06 PT Cruiser Turbo | JEGS

Why do I not have this?

More importantly, is it even real? If they didn't make a stage 2 for the PT, then why am I reading stage 3 coilovers for a PT?

Does anyone have any information on the validity of this?

On this forum, when we take Stage 1, 2, 3, etc., we are usually referring to the the performance PCM kits originally offered at dealerships by Mopar. However, Mopar offered other items as well with a number of different "Stage" names and numbers. In the end, the Stage numbers are just a marketing terms and have rather vague meanings. You would think that S1 is street performance, S2 is street and race, and S3 is mostly race dedicated. However, that does not seem to always be the case. Sometimes it's S1 plus some extra stuff = S2 and so on. And if you look across the different car platforms, Mopar used these terms pretty liberally, specially with suspension parts.

So it's very possible these coilovers were called "Stage 3" when offered by Mopar. You can always call Jeggs and ask them the history behind this naming if they know.

Manufacturers and suppliers of aftermarket parts often name their things with the wording "STAGE" to attract customers that really many times has nothing to do with anything!
I often would name my parts numerically 1, 2 etc. Many would think that 2 was better then one but it only had to do with which part I engineered and developed in numerical order.

Ok well from what I found out with Mopar in term of suspension.

Stage 1 = Springs and sway bars
Stage 2 = Non adjustable coilovers
Stage 3 = Adjustable coilovers.

So they may not have made a Stage 3 setup for the engine on the PT, but they do offer adjustable coilovers, that fit their stage 3 terminology for suspension, and they will now go on my wishlist.
