Default 03 GT Stage1

Can anyone possibly help me out in a few points.. a few years ago I bought my stage 1 from Cindy at Fwd. It along with bigger injectors installed allís been great till a few weeks ago when the onboard ecu memory fried. So I ordered Sykes tuning but had to get a 04 ecu and sent it to him and now the fan is running full speed as well as the fan relay code is on. I didnt have that problem with the other ecu. I know the fan is variable and controlled by the ecu. Does anyone know if itís possible to install my original 03 ecu stock and still use the larger injectors till it can be figured out with the programming?

You need a good 2003 Stage 1 ECU. And the one to get it from is Myckee right here on this forum. He can take that 2004 ECU and flash it to a 2003 Stage 1. And Myckee will be MUCH faster than Sykes. Sykes stays covered up with a backlog of work and the wait time can be pretty long.

For the short term, you will likely be okay running with the 2003 GT ECU with the blue-banded injectors. The ECU will trim the fuel as much as it can. And at worst, you will be running a little rich like many old carbureted engines always did. As long as the engine runs good and no codes are thrown, I myself would be fine with that setup for the short term even if I didn't have any type of diagnostic tools to determine what's going on.

I recommend you contact Myckee by PM and ask him all your questions. No one on this forum is as knowledgeable about all of this as Myckee. He's very sharp.

Hey dude. I went through the same process and had the same problem, but just needed a programming update and then the fan at full speed was fixed. Because the 03 uses a proportional variable speed drive control, and the 04's use a on-off, two speed controller. When you send the 04's to Kevin to program you have to make sure he knows that it's for an 03. If you return the computer to Kevin and explain what happened he should be able to set it to the correct fan. Since Sykes tune is even more aggressive than the original stage 1 programming.

Not only that but you need the specific part number of the 2004 model computer. It happened to me that the one I had wasn't right and couldn't be programmed correctly either.

Hey sorry Shiloe, I was away on a cross country adventure with my wife. I just returned home, 9000 km later on my beloved 03 Dream Cruiser, from out West to see the Rocky Mountains.

Anyway you will be fin using the bigger injectors on the original PCM.

Sykes will take care of it, I am sure. Hopefully he will fix and ship it out again without any delay...

If you wish, you can send it to me and I will fix it, for free, so it will work in your car. I also sent you this in a PM.

Cheers,
Mike
