Default Still happy with stage 1

Guys just got back from the mopar nats in Columbus and on the way there we got 28.5 miles to the gallon. Previous best was 24. While we were out there we checked out the PT Cruiser show at the chrysler dealer off hamilton road. Alot of nice cars there. Race and Street was there with some of there products. We got a shorty antena since we seem to attract birds with the stocker, hit 2. Anyways had a great time at both shows.

What's wrong with this sentence? S1 has larger fuel injectors and they say you get better gas milage? more gas going into the injectors to me would make more sense that it would be LESS milage? hmmmm, I guess I should stick to detailing. Gary

Gary,

Don't get confused. You are right, the injectors CAN flow more fuel, but only when needed. To gain more power, you can lean out the A/F ratio a bit (and still keep it safe). Leaning out the A/F ratio = better gas mileage. That is the reason for the new PCM (engine computer) in Stage 1 (hopefully Stage 2 soon... holding breath...turning...blue....losing....consc....)

Turbomangt...I agree with you...I just dont understand how you would get metter fuel consumption with stage 1.....It defies logic to me....but I am sure the people are not pulling our leg and what they say is true....I guess at 50 I look at increasing horsepower and more fuel meaning less milage....

yeah caught both with the antena. In regards to the fuel mileage, you don't have to give it as much gas to get started so that may contribute to the better mileage around town. But on long trips I don't know about why the better mileage. Before stage one I would only get about 260 miles before the low fuel light came on, after stage one we got 325 and that was cruising at 70. So needless to say it should soon pay for itself. Even though I really didn't pay for it in the first place. I am a pipefitter and had been cashing in the scrap copper from our jobs. Hoping to get some more mod money soon.

I guess to me I have a 180 hp turbo that runs on regular gas. If I go to stage one you have to run premium which is about 20 cents or more a gallon around here in louisville. So except for the increase in performance figuring the price for fuel and the slight increase in mileage it would still cost more to go to stage 1...for me....

Ahhhh, but all that extra power. Besides, it'll cost you less than $3 more to fill up and at one fill up a week and four a month that's less than $12 a month. That's chicken feed.

I'm with Mean Green on this, having added Stage 1 to my '04 Turbo Lite a few months ago. For about $350 and 20 minutes of time it's like getting a brand new car all over again! Yes, you need to run on premium fuel, but the fun factor is well worth the $12 Mean Green figured. On second thought, I can't think of anything else you can do for $12 a month that is this much fun!

C'mon rszappa1, you know you want to do it. It's OK, we won't tell anybody.

you are right.....I am just worried more about the warranty part of it. I would be so easy for the dealer to BLAME THE sTAGE 1 AS THE PROBLEM for a lot of engine related things.....I guess I need to talk to my local dealer that I use to see how they feel about it...BUT YOU ARE RIGHT....I DO WANT IT.
