Why would you get banned for mentioning AMX...seems like a great cost effective solution:

or

the V.A.K. system by prototype power...pricier but looks nicer:

Cheers,

Why would U get banned by mentioing the K&N intake systems either one? I have the Typhoon and it sounds just like a jet plane taking off or I guess landing too!! What you hear on the plane is the turbo (turbine) spinning and that is what we are hearing too!! You have to buy an intake that looses the factory airbox both upper and lower or you wont hear all the turbo wine!!

Where is your air filter (K&N) when you get rid of the factory airbox? To me, if it's just in the engine bay you are just pulling in hot air from the engine compartment...does the K&N have some extension and shield? Does it extend down to the wheel well or something?
Just curious.
Thanks.

lip,

I think the K&N typhoon system puts the air filter pretty close to the fender. I don't think the K&N system uses a heat deflector. I'm getting the BTG system that has a larger oval cone, a smooth chrome up-pipe from the turbo and a stainless heat deflector. From what I've heard the BTG system is a GOOD choice.

Retro, I have the BTG and it sounds fine. I wouldn't worry about the heat build up. I tested the underhood temperature and when your moving above 25 the underhood temp is only a few degrees higher than ambient. That is with or without the rear hood seal.

I've got the VAK kit from prototypepower.com and love it. All the great sounds of the turbo spooling plus the hard uppercharge pipe, and the great looks as a bonus!

The filter is really stuffed into the wheel well and the peformance with this beast on is great!

Mike,

It is really a nice looker, for sure...your car in general is really nice...I still say you should have gotten a 5 speed turbo with all your mods, but then again, that's me...(cause you race from what I have read!)...

I just ordered the AMX...not as nice looking (not bad though)...I would like to paint it blue (to match my car)...any ideas on what I could use?

Cheers,
LIP

AlmondTurbo, lip, retroman: thanks for the compliments.

lip, when I bought the car I really thought I was just buying a new car and had no intention of racing. My car is the Platinum Series so the interior is really nice - two tone leather (light/dark grey) plus suede inserts in the seats and door panels. That was actually a big selling point for me at the time, so the extra power from the addition of Stage 1 and VAK is just the icing on the cake!
