IMHO, this would increase sales by at least 50%. And, if STAGE 1 was an option when ordering a PT "turbo car" DC would sell more units and have many more happy customers. Just my two cents. [8]

It would not sway my vote under the current conditions. Now, If Chrysler would offer the stage one and stage two at the same time w/ the certification, which would allow those who are yet uncommitted to have clear options then it would mean something. My opinion is that a greater selling point would be to offer a WARRANTY on stage one and it would not void any current warranties. It has been around long enough for Chrysler to evaluate and determine that it is not detrimental to the vehicle.

I am awaiting Stage 2 because the rumor mill said that DC was working on CARB certification for Stage 2. Since I have an 03 and can't change out JUST the PCM, and since Texas has annual emission testing, I can't see installing anything that is stamped in big letters "NOT FOR USE ON POLLUTION CONTROLLED VEHICLES".

Yea, the warranty issue is a bummer but I am more willing to take my chances with that than with the emissions issue. Obviously there could be engine damage that was blamed on the Stage kit but at least you have a fighting chance with anything else.

If I had a 04 where I could change out just the PCM, I would have probably already gone with Stage 1.

Tommy,

By "stage i", do you mean stage 1, or are you implying for either stage kit (assuming stage 2 is coming)? I've noticed an acceleration of people adding stage 1 lately, so I hope that overall sales of it are going pretty well for Chrysler. I believe it would improve sales to have the stage kits be emissions legal. Afterall, for those with stage 1, there's probably very few who only use their vehicles for off road use only.

I'm in Dallas and have already added stage 1 - taking the risk that it will pass inspection. Otherwise, it's going to become an annual routine to r&r the system. So if you can make the kits CARB legal, will the old ones become retroactively CARB legal too? I'm assuming that there's really no change in the kit, but only that it will become certified.

I am waiting for Carb Approval as well - since we
have MARTA testing here in Nashville. I really don't
want to have to keep adding and removing the mod
every year for smog patrol tests.

If they carb S2, then I am there!

What he said. Also, did you gather any information on upgrading the auto stick tranny? I'm getting zero here, I've heard a lot of talk, but no one has anything concrete.

Carb certification makes the decision easier to buy a Stage Kit, but the warranty issue is STILL the downfall from making it a concrete decision.

It's been stated 1,000,000 times that other companies warranty their aftermarket products etc. etc. etc. and DCX is still in the dark ages.

The poll should be very specific for the people who are just run of the mill GT owners. These people are probably the best indicator, whether a Stage 2 will succeed. People who bought Stage 1 most likely didn't care if it was CARB or warrantied. (But still like your efforts for trying Tommy )

BTW, leave a message to big brother that I want my Stage 2 now (If its CARB approved, only) :P.

I guess if they decided not to CARB the S-2 but get it for S-1 I would get S-1 because I am in CA. I have been counting on the CARB S-2 though because that has be put forth as the reason S-2 isn't here yet for the PT. This would really be a shot in the arm for the S-2 sales if it comes with CARB approval. IMHO
