Girls/Guys,
What happens when there is a TSB for the engine and you have S1? Can the dealer still upgrade the firmware? Is DC keeping S1 upgraded to solve errors? I haven't seen this anywhere mentioned and it could prove to be a big problem in the future I think. Cheers, LIP |

Maybe we could call flight systems and find out? Like Kirby has said, "no support"! |

I'm going to ask in the SRT forums as well...
Yes, no support...crap. LIP

Inside your PCM is a chip called an EPROM, Electroniclly Programmable Read Only Module. That stores the upgradeable info and as the name implies, the can be "flashed," erased and re-programmed electronically with new info. If that happens to a Stage 1 PCM it becomes a Stage 0 or stock PCM and you lose all the performance you had.
Hope this helps. Mike |

Mike, you are correct that flashing the Stage 1 module with the standard "dealer" program would return you to a Stage 0. The dealer uses a PROM burner to reprogram the chip.
To be technically correct, EPROM is the abbreviation for Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory. EEPROM is Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory. Typically EEPROM is used in most applications since EPROM uses ultraviolet light to clear the memory prior reprogramming where an electric charge is used to erase the EEPROM memory. It's hell being an Engineer.

Yup, Forgot the other "E" Should have remembered, used to use both and even owned an EPROM eraser. Sorry for the error.
