Default Stage swapouts...Do you have to do a Quick Learn?

I was just thinking if a person who had to temporarily swap Stage1 back to Stage0, is a tranny quick learn necessary each time a swap is performed? I would like to hear from any experienced, especially, DC techs.

I believe that, provided you haven't had any problems with the tranny (had it fixed, changed, etc) that you do not need to do the quick learn just because you changed the PCM from S1 to S0 and back to S1. This is assuming, of course, that you did the quick learn when you initially installed S1 !!!

I recall brngrhd on this and other forums saying the quick learn only needed to be done once, even if you did the above described PDM swapping. He's a DCX tech dealing almost exclusively with transmissions, so he ought to know! Still, I'd wait for him to respond here before being 100% comfortable with it.

Excellent question.
I will be getting stage 1 soon, and it would be nice to know that if I take my car in for service and wanted to change back to my stock PCM, if it would need to be reprogrammed(tranny).
Common sense tells me that all your info would be stored in the unit that you have just taken out, but when dealing with cars, that's not always the case

I actually contacted Mopar (the tech # on the S1 install sheet) regarding this. The tech that answered the phone said "You shouldn't have to". I was concerned becuase he didn't really sound sure of himself. Since it's an toll free #, I'll call a few times and ask the same question again if a different tech answers. If they all say the same thing, then I'll feel more assured.
