This question goes out to anyone who has installed a Stage I on their '03 Turbo. I heard about draing, or better put, removing some the coolant with a turkey baster. Has anyone had any experience with doing this? [:I] If so how and where did you remove it from? Also did you remove the fuse for the injectors and repeatedly try to start the engine as per the directions? Finally got my Stage I and will try to install in the next couple of weeks or so. All the help you can send my way will be appreciated!!!!!

You can just open the petcock at the bottom of the radiator to drain some of the fluid.
The proceedure of starting the car is to release the pressure in the fuel system. I think there is a schrader valve on the fuel rail that will do the same thing without the machinations. Be sure to disconnect the battery.

Very easy install if you throw away about 10 pages of the instructions.
Remove the rear bracket bolts at the manifold and the 5 front manifold bolts. Lift manifold up an support with bungee cord. Remove the Rad cap and suck the coolant out with a turkey baster until the t-stat is uncovered (save the coolant in a bottle) and unbolt the t-stat housing. Lift the housing and hose up (a small amount of coolant may be lost, just replace with water). Remove the screws holding the fuel rail on and lift the rail up. Pop off the injector clips and replace the injectors, don't forget to re-install the clips. Put back in reverse order. Note; the t-stat just floats and is positioned by the housing so make sure it is positioned under the housing properly. Take your time and you will have no problems. I have a 5spd sooooo..... use the instructions for the trans learn deal! Rock on![?] I posted this in July and you are just installing it, the wait must be killing you! ![]() |

You have no idea how bad it is! With a very young little lady in my life (9 months old today) a full time job, 8 hours of school a week oh, better not forget this misses, my PT time ranks way down there. If I didn't love that car so much I would have given up by now. Thanks again for the help. I am going to try and knock it out the weekend before the election. I'll have a four day weekend and evberyone in the house knows my plans for that Saturday. Wish me luck
