My 2004 GT highway gas mileage prior to installing, STAGE 1, BOV, and "Brand X" Turbo to Air Box Pipe (K&N drop-in performance air filter installed at the time of purchase, 9-03) was usually somewhere between 22-26 mpg. Now, with over 11K miles on my car the highway fuel economy (without Cruise Control on, no AC, speeds of 55-80mph, and a few WOT's thrown in for good measure) has increased to 24-30mpg. When driving at a steady 65-70mph on flat roads in good weather I can sometimes top 30mpg.

Hi, Gary
If you add the downpipe from scott mesh it will get even better. This speaking from personel experience, I have most of the same mod as you with the downpipe added in.

Great new pictures, Gary. I've been writing down my milage and gallons for 8 weeks but haven't figured them up yet. I still think I'm aroud 17 to 20. I have had only freeway and local streets, no trips yet. Lots of WOT and near-WOT! [8)]

Speaking of fuel economy, the "Fuel Economy" sucks right about now. What is it $50.00 a barrel from OPEC these days. Our friends from Saudi Arabia are just robbing us blind. $2.80 a gallon for 91 octane here, no wonder you all are glad for 30mpg fuel economy because the "Fuel Economy" sucks big time. I've got someone to blame, but I won't name him here.

Oh man, not the "price of gas is killing me" topic again!! We've got the cheapest gas prices on the planet gang! I remember spending the summer of 1976 in Europe and was stunned to see them paying almost $3.00/gal (or the equivalent thereof) when we were shelling out a paltry 60 cents a gallon. In England right now they're paying close to $7.00/gal for premium gas.
Hey, I don't want to see it hit $3/gal either, but I place most of the blame at the oil companies feet. I'm always stunned to hear about this or that refinery being shut down for maintenance, or closed even, just as the cost per barrel jumps. You really think that's a coincidence? |

Wow, $2.80 a gallon for 91! And I got mad when it went up to $1.99 for 93 octane last week. What part of the country are you in? I'm in the great state of Alabama, Birmingham to be exact. 91-93 octane around here has been steady around $2.00 for the last few weeks.

My MPG haven't improved with STAGE 1 so far. Does it take a while to kick in?
Could someone tell me more about this "pipe" thing? BTW, we do NOT have the cheapest gas on the planet. In Iraq you can get it VERY cheap. And if you're Halliburton charge the US taxpayers $4 a gallon for it!

California should be a foreign country, we pay off the roof for some crappy 91 octane (I would be happier if it was 93).

It IS a foreign country...why do you think a lot of people move out of that state every year...before they get "Terminated"
