Thank you all for your replies. I am reassured that I have the correct programmed PCM now. I will be installing the kit tomorrow.
![]() When I opened the package yesterday and saw p/n on PCM starting with P45....., I thought, " oh sh**!" I got 04 S1 kit since 04 S1 kit # starts with P45..... ( 04 manual S1 # P4510606 and 04 auto S1 #: P4510597). Assuming that th PCM p/n is the software programmed part, which is the main part of the S1 kit that distinguishes between 03 auto/maual and 04 auto/manual S1 kits, I can not understand why 03 PCM p/n has to be so different from S1 kit p/n.[:I] For reference : - 03 manual S1 kit p/n: P5007943, PCM p/n: 1-P4510056AE - 03 auto S1 kit p/n: P5007944, PCM p/n: 1-P4510057AD - 04 manual S1 kit p/n: P4510606, PCM p/n: ??????????? - 04 auto S1 kit p/n: P4510597, PCM p/n: ??????????? Maybe 04 S1 p/n are same as the PCM p/n since the PCM is the only part of the kit.

Congrats on your S1 purchase.
As a fellow Canadian, I have a few questions. Where did you get your S1? Is there any difference for the PCM for Canadian vs. American PT's? Thanks in advance. |

I got it from the States but ended up paying almost same as if I got it here in Canada. They over valued it when shipped and I had to pay extra taxes. Not to mention extra wait (more than 4 weeks) to get it. I am not to happy about that. ![]() It is up to you! In Canada try: http://www.eastwood.mb.ca/parts2.asp For 03 manual S1 is at $531 can. If you want to save few bucks and order it from US, I would go with tthrift ( I think that is his user name. He is on this fourm. just do a search) I heard nothing but good service from others who have ordered parts from him. I will be calling him for other future parts from now on. It is about $320-330 us + @ $20us. for shipping and depending on how they ship it to you, expect to pay from $0 to over $100 can for taxes and other charge. I had mine shipped USPS but since they over valued it, I ended up paying extra $82 can. You will pay more if shipped by UPS. For US S1 vs Can.S1 , I don't think there are any diff. except we use km vs mi. I have no idea if they logged in my odometer readings in km or in mi into my S1 PCM. I topped up coolant today and started up finally. Due to raining all day today, did not get to take it out for test run yet but did notice slightly louder exhaust and S1 injectors seems to be quieter.

I had some seat time in my S1 GT this week, and I must say it is absolute blast to drive now. Much easier to "get off the line" with more power and torque coming on sooner and quicker. My max. boost on 3rd is at 14.5 to 15 psi now without a boost controller. Also, at WOT, upper rpm power hits harder. Overall, much better and satisfying to drive drivers car.
couple of interesting things I noticed with S1 installed: - S1 injectors are quieter, no ticking noise from engine bay ![]() - not only does engine revs quicker but rpm falls quicker too as you let off gas. I had to make minor adjustment to compensate for that when shifting. ![]() Now, with everyone with stock Turbo Cruisers... go get your S1! [8)]

The ticking noise I heard in my former 2003 GT [:0] [B)] was of a different nature: http://www.ptcruiserlinks.com/forum/...eng ine, noise |

Hi Gary, Before S1,not only the dealer told me that the noise was from injectors, but when I checked the engine area with automotive stethoscope, ticking noise was coming from the injectors only. When I checked other GT's at the dealer they all made same injector ticking noise ( some more than others). I am no expert but I do believe that injectors have springs and valves inside that move many times per sec. "The Injector A fuel injector is nothing but an electronically controlled valve. It is supplied with pressurized fuel by the fuel pump in your car, and it is capable of opening and closing many times per second. When the injector is energized, an electromagnet moves a plunger that opens the valve, allowing the pressurized fuel to squirt out through a tiny nozzle. The nozzle is designed to atomize the fuel -- to make as fine a mist as possible so that it can burn easily. " As with Gary, this was my diff. experience with ticking noise. Could some gear heads shed light on this matter so other members who maybe having engine bay noise problems can clearly determine what noise is ok and what noise are not. Last year, that ticking noise did worry me for awhile but it is gone for good. ![]()

The engine in this car is definitely "tighter" than the one in my former GT and I have had absolutely no complaints or concerns. ![]() |

Injectors absolutely will "tick". It is just the injectors firing. It should not be so loud that it is annoying though.
