Default Finally Istalled my Stage I

Well after a very long wait I finally installed my Stage I on my 03 Turbo today. I did have a problem though. Mopar forgot to thread my new PCM. If anyone else comes up with this problem the proper tap is a 6 mm. Other than a little spilt coolant the install went fairly well. I took it out and did the "quick" learn, that wasn't quick and had one hell of a ride home!!! Looking forward to playing some more tomorrow [8)]

Congrats and welcome to the club!

My PCM was properly threaded, so I never had a problem. Glad you were able to get it installed and do the quick learn.

I'm sure you're enjoying it alot!

My S1 PCM wasn't threaded for my '04. The bolts appeared to be self tapping (pointed thread), so I just cranked 'em on down. No problem.

I just installed S1 today and also had to Tap the PCM holes to mount the bracket. Instead of rotating up the therostat housing assembly, I took it off and had abot 1/2 liter coolant spill. I will have to get some at the dealer tomorrow.

On the S1 instruction sheet pg.5 of 13, "(16) Remove the 2 small hoses from the thermostat housing (Fig.16)". Anyone notice that we only have 1 small hose going to the coolant reservoir ? [:I] or is mine missing 1 hose connection.

Otherwise, whole operation went very smooth. I know I wasn't losing any boost before( hitting 11 to 12 psi max before S1) But with my 3" AMX intake pipe and the filter box out of the way, I have retighten all the piping connections includin turbo hot side, boost gauge hose, catch can connections. I should see 13 to 14 psi max with S1. I should find out tomorrow.

It's in the install manual and only pertains to auto transmissions. It's a procedure after the install where you have to do about 15 set of launches at about 25%-50% throttle and about 10 more driving at about 40 mph and then hitting the peddle. The manual gives a more detailed instruction.

If you do a search on "Stage 1" you can find the detailed instruction on the "Quick Learn" from one of the threads.

Jimbo, while Eddie's response was very accurate and helpful, I can't resist making one last comment about the quick learn. If you forget to do it, or choose not to, you will destroy your auto tranny. That's just about 100% guaranteed!
