Default Another Stage 1 Question

I was looking at Mopar's Stage 1 site and I noticed the following statement: "Not legal for sale or use on pollution controlled motor vehicles". I'm not worried abot the the legal stuff. My main concern is emissions. Here in Portland, OR we have to go through emission testing every 4 years. This isn't a safety inspection, only an emission check. I have 2 concerns. 1. Will the Stage 1 cause me not to pass the emission test. 2. I don't want to be pumping more crap into the atmosphere than I have to. I am by no means a hard core "greenie", if I was I wouldn't have bought a Cruiser. But I like to do what I can to keep my impact as minimal as possible.

From those that have had emission testing done on Stage 1 equipt vehicles and from comments by a MOPAR engineer who was told my Chrysler to quit posting on this site, it appears that the actual exhaust emissions are within limits with Stage 1. However, it depends on the State's requirements if they plug into your OBD electronics. There is at least one error code that is thrown and some of the code may be turned off. This may or may not cause the test to fail.

Sleeper, with the '04 Stage One you get just the PCM. You keep the old one. It's easy to install in a half hour or so. I plan to re-install the stock PCM when I have the first smog test.
